Was wondering where the data is drawn from? Does it contain all the World or just US mountains?
This is from the SNOTEL system, which is an amazing source of info for skiers. Most of these stations are in the west, but they have been adding them to the east recently.

Seasons SNOW totals are in for the Early season through "Week 9" 12/28/24
So the East is in really good shape for "this" weekend before New Years eve next week. Hope you get it before the Snowmaking pond gets its next refill from the "RRRrrrr" to end this weekend and start the next week. Behind the extra "Water" we have a good set up to repair some of the loss of the terrain we currently have. Cold, Snowmaking and fresh SNOW is in the immediate future. The West has gotten major SNOW dumps and good refreshers and has opened up a lot more territory. There are Skiable and Rideable mountains all over North America so a tasting of what is considered open terrain with Trail counts this early in the season "WEEK 9" around North America. These are considered lift serviced trails at some of the open ski mountains on Saturday 12/28/24. Hike to your delight for more trail fun.

They be bombing the 9999999990
The conspiracy theory hill I'll die on is they only opened 9990 for the key few day window before Christmas week where people could still cancel their vacation trips, just so they could show some expert terrain is open, then immediately closed 9990 again once that cancelation window pretty much expired. It makes too much sense.

My support:
1) Vail is always thinking ahead
2) Vail is always evil

2025 Is looking to be SNOWY, COLD and WHITE with Multiple weeks in the freezing teens in the Northeast forecasted!!

Wet snow New Year's Day becomes drier Thursday/Friday with a beautiful weather pattern ready and waiting for 2025. Raise a glass to 2025 and make sure you raise a glass to the incoming weather that is poised to accompany it. Like a picturesque version of fundamental support for persistent cold out through the middle of January

I am hearing brutal cold not beautiful weather pattern for 2 weeks.
Most of the brutal cold should stay mainly over the Midwest. Not to say it won't be cold here, but the 30+ degree below average type stuff will probably not be a huge issue here.

Has been quite ugly at Mount Snow the last 36 hrs or so. The fog atleast departed about 12hrs ago. Damage done though! 99% of the naturals are done. A bunch of snowmaking terrain is if not done, then fading fast.

Good thing is there's A LOT of water ready to go in the snowmaking pond with a high refill rate in the supplying stream.

When the cold air likely on Thursday gets here, our new GM will likely get her 1st experience with what this big "horsepower" snowmaking systemn can do 1st hand!

Love the brutal COLD too as it helps the SNOW amounts as long as the COLD and Pressure bubble isn't "SO" strong that it pushes the JET STREAM and storm systems too FAR south and out to sea!

Coldest January since 2011 brewing for US to lead to multiple winter storms

This cold is Strong enough and Long enough for any Northeast mountain to make and bury just about any area in as much man made SNOW as they need and want.
Dramatically colder conditions are ahead as an Arctic blast moves into the U.S. starting next week. The bitterly cold pattern could be the coldest January in more than a decade and may be strewn with "Winter storms for the Midwest, South and East"

It actualy felt a bit chilly...but coming from vermont it was fine. Once the sun starts blasting it gets warm very fast.
At Stowe it would never warm up!

Which means it feels like if it was 27 degrees back in New Jersey.
Yep, touching on one of the main reasons we decided to head west. We sat in the sun on a single digit morning over Thanksgiving and were quite comfortable. Would never happen here in the east.

Word is pretty brutal cold to come visit NJ over the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Happy to report that NWS was way wrong (as I predicted, I have witnesses) and SoVT got 4-5” of base building sierra cement to start putting Humpty Dumpty back together. Misty and foggy so not a great ski day after early “pow” runs. Forecast for backside/upslope snow tonight so let’s hope that delivers the forecasted 3-6” tonight. Big question will be how much we get tomorrow through Friday with lake enhanced upslope potentially continuing.

Way more expected up north from upslope.

Snowmaking to restart and window looks to be potentially weeks long. Just need a storm to come together in this upcoming pattern.

Winter returns.
