This May Be the Best East Coast Ski Season in Almost 20 Years: It Just Keeps Snowing

While it’s still relatively early, 2024-25 is shaping up to be a memorable year on the East Coast. The last several seasons have been fairly poor, but it looks like all the suffering may finally be over. At 187 inches, Killington Resort, Vermont, is on pace to have its largest season total since 2006-07 and has received more snow than Vail, Colorado. Jay Peak, Vermont, has already surpassed 300 inches (averages 360″), which puts it in fifth place for snowfall in North America. In the southeast, Snowshoe, West Virginia, has already surpassed its average snowfall of 150 inches. For the first time since 2018-19, snow depth on Mt. Mansfield, VT, is above average for this point in the season.

Right where I want to be
Oh man it is dumping at the condo out in Colorado right now. As hard as I have seen it this year. Zero visibility.

Wild weather across the country.
Dumped 9” last night in Jackson, WY. Started snowing around noon yesterday while I was at JH. Best day of my trip.Only had a 1/2 day to ski today so went to Snow King in the morning until about 1. It was a lot of fun great steeps off the front. The back sunbowl was fun as well. Rest day tomorrow in west Yellowstone.

Had 8 inches Thursday along the St Lawrence River all the regional ski venues got the goods.

Today's forecast is another 6 to 12 inches , supposed to start later this afternoon mostly all snow until tonight and tomorrow in which case it converts to sleet and freezing rain ugh

We are at "Week 16" on (2/15/25) on a Valentines day and Presidents day weekend holiday. What a great ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN we have set up for THE WEEKS AHEAD!! This is arguably the best Northeast and Vermont season in a long long time
The Northeast is in really great shape for this weekend with the current trail conditions featuring large trail counts with packed powder just about everywhere be it windblown or that just falling out of the sky. Many Northeast mountains are at full trail counts being open. The Northeast is NOW getting major winter storm systems. There are multiple days of lurking snow systems next week lets keep our SNOWGLOBES going. The West is getting buried as we type. There are Skiable and Rideable mountains all over North America so a tasting of what is considered open terrain with Trail counts this point in the season "WEEK 13" around North America. These are considered lift serviced trails at some of the open ski mountains on Saturday 2/15/25. Hike to your delight for more trail fun "VERMONT IS BURRIED IN THE NORTH"

It is about to be all time at Whiteface.
If it isn't shut down by winds the next few days...they look insane up there!

Reporting in from Gore further south it is about as good as I can remember right now. Woods have best coverage in years. We don't get sleeted out tomorrow it's going to be all time here too.

About as windy as I can recall in the close to 20 years that I have owned my condo at Mount Snow and been up here this morning! Got a good 4ft + deep drift in my condo walkway I'm about to go deal with and it looks like there's a limb of a pine tree in the drift, and the nearest pine tree to my condo is over 50 yards away!

Saddleback yesterday was my best day of eastern skiing in my entire life. Insane.

They are down today and so is river so I came here and I’m so glad I did

Was gonna go to Magic today but last night with the flash freeze and terrible roads between here and there I made the decision to just stay home. Glad I did...looks like they're not getting open today.

I haven't been to BMOM yet, will have to check it out sometime. I miss Saddleback.

Nice snowfall in Northern New England this past weekend. Everything shaping up well as the prime season ends and we get into March (east and west as it hammering in Colorado now) Need this next one to trend further north. Does no good to fall in NJ. The set up for spring looks pretty good. Steins at Sugarbush looked like it had a ton of snow on it just for it. Get through these school weeks and sail into March.

Nice! BMOM with snow is awesome. I was 50/50 between the 2 Black Mtns today and chose the NH one which is pretty sweet today too!

Is Black NH open tomorrow? Not clear if midweek for the whole holiday week…

Choosing between black NH, Sunday river, ragged, and Waterville tmrw

Black and ragged would be first visits

Who fares best In the breeze?

Pretty sure they are open. I just checked the online store and it was going to let me buy a ticket for tomorrow.

Black NH would be your best bet with the wind due to their southern exposure. Never really felt the breeze today till I left at 3.

Ragged last Friday did well with the gusty winds too.

Definitely recommend rock skis for both in the glades and natural trails. Lots of stuff underneath the snow.

Edit: Black is for sure open all week. They list the holiday dates at the bottom of the tickets page.
