If you posers knew how to turn more quickly, there would be no need for them. ;)

Seriously, the abundance of sweeping push pile GS bumps at Killington today was discouraging.

So be it. The groomed trail "experts" hate to face the truth.

easy killer... i'll side with the groomer people before enjoying one run down high speed ice mounds you call gs bumps...

i'd like to note that not all groomed trails are the lame flat boulavards of bordome . . . .

It does seem dumb to groom a trail like East Fall at all in the spring. Most of the groomer crowd is long gone. Maybe just groom a little stip so it's passable in the early morning?

Greg I'm gonna go spend the day on pali face now, I hope they groomed the runout back to the chair:razz:

Remember that the audience that Okemo and Killington is catering to, or at least was before the market tanked, were the baby boomers who had enough disposable income to buy that ski condo or come up for a vacation. In the 1970's and 1980's they had the knees to do bumps all day long and that's what they wanted (and what Killington gave them). Now most of that market wants and demands groomed cruisers. That's why we have places like Bretton Woods, Stratton, Okemo, etc. delivering that product.

Pretty fair analysis !!

There's also be no need for them if they just left the trails ungroomed. There's still enough bump skiers at Killington to turn what starts out as push piles into decent bumps.

The thing that really sucks about push piles is that if you try to make your own line by jumping onto one, you just sink.

Yup, and this time of the season with what's left and is open, I'm sure that K is somewhat trying to grab a few folks that are normally Okemo cruisers.

I will admit to being very curious to see what the crowd at Mount Snow will be like this weekend, with 2 parks and a 1/2 pipe to supplement the "groomer route(s)" they'll have off Nitro Quad

I think the Killington bump hayday was still going strong in the 90's. What I don't get is why there isn't a new breed of bump skiers out there. In the late 90's we saw the advent of shaped skis, allowing almost anyone to be able to carve pretty early on. Around the same time tree skiing and on map glades became popular and that's where the more advanced skiers seem to spend most of their time. It seems the brutal grooming became the norm as a result. Now with so few good bumps, less and less people know how to ski them so the mountains continue to overgroom. Vicious cycle really.

I think a big problem is how people are introduced to bumps.
