I added a cool new feature to the forums - Statistics! The link can be found at the top right of the forums to the left of the "Private Messages" link. Cool, huh?

hey greg, what would you think about a rideshare board of some sort? i'm always trying to find a way to get up to the whites on weekends b/c my car couldn't make the trip more than once or twice without dying on me...i'm probably not the only one who might like to carpool...it seems like there are quite a few people in the CT and MA areas heading up there..

thanks
spencer

Hi Spencer - feel free to post a rideshare request in this or the hiking/skiing forums. I'm not sure something like this warrents a dedicated forum. I'm also concerned that AlpineZone may incur some liability if we set up a forum like this. Thanks for the idea though!

What happened to the statistics? I think it's time for a new AZ survey, since there are a lot of new folks on the board.

I wonder if having a calendar-based tool to facilitate meetups would have value?

In another forum, I used a Googlemaps feature to help people find others who were researching villages, putting in a pushpin. You could visually scope out who might be close enough to warrant a discussion with. Wonder if a similar concept, calendar-wise would work, since overt posts don't seem to go too far. All of my meet-ups have been handled privately.

Can't find it. Is it just for mods?

Check the start date of this thread, 2001. I don't even remember what cstats.php was. We were using a different forum software back then...

Lies, damned lies and statistics.

62% of statistics are made up on the spot.

34% of people know this.

There was a demographic survey done a while ago, wan't there? Might be interesting to brush that off and see how things have changed (or not changed, as the case may be)
