Just got my Ski Magazine Gear Guide yesterday

meh

Amazing how bad is sucks, when there is such great info on line for reviewing gear.

I'm not a Ski Magazine hater though. I still love reading articles on various resorts.

I wish I still had the issues from 15-20 years ago. I remember how thick the magazine used to be. They'd do a huge spread on ski attire as well.

I read through the Buyer's Guide this weekend. It's not that bad. It's a quick, high level overview of gear. From there, I can start to look stuff up online if it interests me. I thought it had a decent selection of gear. Vs let's say "Powder" which seems to be more out West/Big Mountain focused.

Guess what I'd rather see is a bit of info on each ski entered by all the manufacturers for each category instead of narrowing down the lists to what they think are the 'best' skis for each category. I think they leave a lot of great skis out of their gear reviews.

I agree. It does tend to be mostly their top rated stuff. It would be nice if they were able to test just about everything.

The special Utah advertisement section actually makes for some good mindless bathroom reading. I could stare at those trail maps all day!:spread:

Got my first mag too, but haven't had the chance to open it up yet.

Too much homework? :p

I really don't remember where I go them, but the issues are piling up and I haven't cracked one since the gear issue.

About time -

just got my first issue \o/
"Winter Vacation Issue" Vol76#3/Ski Utah 11-12 guide. A EVO catalog was also in the mail box.
Either they just got to me or our new mail man (last guy retired), dropped the last two issues at any number of combo's or parts of my addy within a mile radius of my house:\

I think the rag has improved....Liked the articles on the history of skiing...sandwiched in between 20 pages of whistler ads
