Starting to think about this again. I am spending a lot more time in the trees. I got hiit in the face a couple of times this last weekend in the face with branches since I was going doing some runs in no officical glades. also, some glades such as Cannon can have some tight trees and low hanging branches.

Overkill with the full face?

my helmet and goggles pretty much gives me the protection i need.
it was quite warm this past sunday around noon at the bush and i was in the unofficial glades also. 5 minutes i took my goggles off due to fogging up, a little branch poked my left eye. no injuries, but kinda gave me a sense of protection i get.

I'm also thinking of getting a full-face helmet so I don't think it's overkill. Skiing with your hands in front of you as you go through twigs can only go so far. I've had cuts and scrapes all over my face and busted lips to explain on Monday mornings at the office. I just worry that you're one scrape away from the "one" that make you regret not getting a full-face. I was on the lift the other week with a guy in a full-face. He said he smashed his face on the snow after someone plowed into him from the back.

As it is, I've got a helmet and knee pads every time I go into the trees. I'm thinking of adding a spine protector because of backwards falls. Might as well throw in full chest padding. Of course, I could dial it all back and stick to the groomers...

I used to wear a Giro G-10 MX. It had a full dirt bike style visor on it, which was great for trees. I would lower my head, and deflect the branches. I never got a branch to the face.
I used to always wear slalom hand guards when I was skiing the trees alot. I could knock the branches out of the way with no pain.

I have the Giro 10 with the visor also.. It helps but not completely. Go idea about the thorac protector. I think Backcountry has those for cheap money now. I was thinking about the slalom guards too.

I also have been skiing the trees alot faster too. I could also go back to groomers but I would be bored!!!!
