EVER tried skiing? No? Well then you'd better begin for man has been enjoying the sport for so long that its origin is lost in prehistoric antiquity Don t be discouraged better late than never You ll want a pair of this winter no doubt and so I m to tell you about some good They are Northland Skis and they perfectly to all the requirements laid down as desirable by masters at the sport.

In the first place, they are edge grain that means that the grain runs on up and down through the ski the surface against slivering Then in shape and in the degree curvature they meet the standards. They may be in ash, hickory, maple or yellow pine and in a of finishes. Those illustrated are of hickory and run from $7.00 to $9.00 depending up on the length. In other woods they may be had as low as $2.00 per pair. In measuring yourself for ski stand in front of a wall raise your arm above your head with elbow stiff and fingers extended. Where your finger tips reach make a mark and the distance from there to the floor measured along the wall will give you the length of ski you require. Northland Skis run from 5 to 9 feet in length. Northland Ski bindings are superior and cost $3.50.

South Side of Chicago BOOM!
My first job in the ski industry was working for Northland in Lacoina at age five.
Pops would send me down to Weirs Hardware with a check and I would come back with a "Tube"of metal screw in edges.
Then I would place them on the skis and a "Big Guy" would screw them in...and it has been going downhill ever since.
:p
