Hi everyone-

I am wondering- what is your favorite ghost story relating to the White Mountains? Anyone have any personal creepy encounters?

No - but i often think about all the people that have died when I have quiet moments on Mt Washington.. I think about being surrounded by mistakes of the past... Which is pretty haunting.

Yes- it's pretty disheartening to feel a sense of glory or triumph at a summit, knowing that others have perished along the way. I get this sense on Lafayette. That mountain could chew me up and spit me out accross the ravine like a watermelon seed.

Not a ghost story, but Nathaniel Hawthorne's "Ambitious Guest" is based on the demise of the Willey House in Crawford Notch.
