Has it been the best winter ever no. Has it been the worst winter ever no. Am I still having a blast on the mountain yes. The bright side.. no lift lines, trails free from crowds and the best one of all.. ice is really fast!

I skied a few inches of fresh at Wildcat last Tuesday with a few friends and we had an absolute ball ripping run after run. My legs were absolutely gassed. One of friends mentioned that linking 3 actual powder turns together makes the 2 hour drive worth it. I agreed. Après ski felt good.

I'd feel a lot better about this season if I had a season's pass where I could basically ski for "free" (no additional out of pocket). But if I have to pay for a lift ticket, gas, hotel, and food, then it's easy to see why I'm either mad about not getting good value for my money spent, or not spending my money in the first place.

Yeah I agree any skiing is better than no skiing , BUT, I am really bummed about not getting to get in the variety I would normally get. i.e. trees, groomers, moguls, being able to ski the entire mt. , etc.
Not for me.

I'm going to get x number of days of skiing in because that's the number of days I can take off. If that day of crappy condition means one less vacation day for later, when condition COULD BE better, it's a day wasted. Not to mention the lift ticket cost.

+1

I will only be mad if resort (or people here) over-hyped the condition and I wasted a precious day on ice. (Like an earlier post, in a year of drought, 2" is thought as "epic"!) Otherwise, I'm at ease making a decision "not spending my money in the first place".

The conditions this year have not been amazing, no question. But I truly feel it is what you make of it. If you are expecting the conditions of last year, then you most likely will be disappointed. But if you accept that the weather gods have been being very difficult for the mtns. then it has still been a pretty decent winter. I have yet to spend a single day on the hill were I left thinking well that sucked and why did I waste my time.
