Good Eats

I can't bring myself to watch food network very often except for this show. I have probably learned more from Alton Brown than two years of culinary school.....

Alton Brown rocks. He does a great job of explaining the "why" of things that you don't get on other shows.

Best cooking show out there. Alton is by far the best on screen educator that I've seen. The food he cooks is generally not as 'sexy' as some of the other star chefs, but his explanation of technique and chemistry is spot on. There are other 'dumbed down' cooking programs out there ala Rachel Ray, but they/she really just teaches someone how to execute a recipe. Alton teaches skills that can be applied to other dishes.

Good Eats is the only remaining watchable show on a network that used to be full of awesome. Who needs professional chefs showing off their craft when we can have hack nobodys showing off their kitchen skills mixed in with overhyped reality shows?

Although truth be told, after Good Eats, my second favorite culinary type show is No Reservations on the Travel channel.
