Good lodging choices in Park City

Looking for first hand accounts of downtown lodging in Park City. Had a heart to heart with the gf and she wasn't as into Steamboat as I thought she was, so instead of going to Steamboat in March, we are going to Park City, primarily to ski at Deer Valley (her choice).

I'm okay with that because I think Park City is a great town for a romantic retreat, and because I have had good experiences with the bumps at Deer Valley.

She has stated her desire to stay in-town in PC, so I am looking for (most likely) a hotel that isn't outrageous that is close to the action and close to the shuttle. I already did a fair amount of research trying to find a place that will throw in lift tickets, but, much to my disappointment, couldn't find any. Only tickets being thrown around are for PCMR itself.

Also was disappointed to see that the deal where you trade your boarding pass for a lift ticket is blacked out for our arrival date (March 18th). Seems unfair for them to be constantly bragging about their access and this deal and then to have it blacked out for most of the season.

Anyway, any lodging recommendations would be appreciated. Their is a romantic lilt to this trip, so I don't mind paying for something reasonable, but I also am not going to go crazy. Cheers!

I stayed in the Marriot right across the street from the Town lift. It was nice, convenient to Main Street, but we set off the smoke alarm cooking Bacon one morning.

Love Deer Valley but bring your bank account. Also try the Deer Valley Chili. They now sell packets in the store in Park City and we usually return with 2 or 3 packages. Ontario Bowl is the place to find good pow at Deer Valley. Great tree shots. Ditto on what Quattro says about Empire Bowl. We miss you by a week or I'd suggest hooking up. Enjoy.

I skied DV for 4 days in 1998, and then another 4 in 2008, so I have some experience.

What I'm hoping for is some info on lodging in PC, mostly. Do you guys remember which Marriott you staid at?

I totally agree with this statement! The price that you pay for DV is essentially the same as it's immediate competitors in Park City (lift tickets, food & beverage, etc), however their level of quality and level of service is noticeably superior

you may pay a bit more, but you will never feel "ripped off" .... you get what you pay for...

+1 on the Marriott Summitt Watch if you want to stay directly on Main Street. And if you want to spend a day a PCMR you are right across the street via pedestrian bridge from the town lift.

Summit watch is $400+ a night for a basic room. A little steep imo.

Does anyone know anything about Treasure Mountain Inn ?

All you need to know is that you're basically across the street from the Wastach Brewing Company Brew Pub on that part of Main Street :)

Top of Main Street, easy stroll down Main for you and your GF to do the quaint apres ski couple thing. Take the trolley back to the top at night :)

I believe that the Marriott Park City (on Sidewinder) is much more centrally located, and has a much more reasonable rate due to the fact it is not on the mountain. It is tucked away in a quiet part of town within walking distance of several restaurants, and is only .9 miles away from the base of Main Street. It is right off of the complimentary shuttle system, which makes for an easy trip. In addition, bellmen take complimentary shuttles up to Deer Valley and Park City Mountain several times in the morning (based on a first come first serve basis) and allow for transportation back to the hotel. Each afternoon complimentary hot apple cider is served to incoming guests and returning skiiers in the lobby, and there is a ski rental shop on site. Although it is not ski in ski out, Marriott Service is paramount and you will not be disappointed.

What kind of deals do you guys have in place? Anything to compete with TMI's "Ticket to Ride" package, which includes airport transfers, lift tickets to PCMR or DV, breakfast, and lodging?

Also, not sure if your going to get in trouble for spam...

I have priced a March visit to SLC. If you stay downtown you save a bunch of money & have many more options for food & entertainment than on the slopes. Package deals are a great bet, airfare & hotel... Get the Super Pass which includes transport from SLC to Alta, Snowbird & 2 other areas PLUS it includes lift tickets. If yu really want to ski Deer Valley or Ogden, rent a car for cheap, but I really suggest you avoid Budget. They tried to screw me on a SUV car rental in Reno when I was skiing Squaw & Kirkwood. We got a much better price on a 4WD car from Enterprise.

They offer Ski Rental Packages which include lodging and ski rentals.

They also offer a package that includes the silver passport with or without breakfast. (The silver passport is a ski pass that allows you to hop between Park City area resorts for one low price.)

OK, so I'm trying to check into lodging at Park City over the February vacation week 2011 (checking various sites including VRBO) and I think I need a reality check...

Here's what I'm looking for:

  • 1BR or 2BR, something that comfortably sleeps a family of 4
  • Nice family-friendly accommodations...nothing old, run down, noisy, or "basic"
  • Some of the usual amenities (pool, hot tub) but don't care/need luxury
  • Don't care too much about ski-in/ski-out but it would be nice.
What should I realistically expect to pay per night for all of this?
