Google Maps has added satellite imagery to their lineup. You can now get fantastic imagery of the mountain ranges where you hike, play, etc. For example, Mount Washington.

Try it out. Feature-wise, there's still a lot missing, but the image quality is wonderful. I've already traced several of my favorite bike paths through the woods, checked out ski areas, and enjoyed how the imagery is shot at different times of the year so in at least one place a lake is frozen on the right and summery with boats on the left.

Image resolution varies depending on location - you can zoom into incredible detail in the Boston area, but in northern NH not quite as far.

Trés cool. And free.

If anyone wants a Gmail invite, let me know .... I have plenty. Just post it here and PM me with your current email address. (I don't log in to lurk so I don't check my pm as often as I'm on AZ.)

What Beano said. I've got 50 of them just waiting. Everytime I get rid of one, they seem to replace it with 5. Too bad there's no market for them anymore. Once upon a time you could sell them on eBay. Now, you can't give them away.
