Getting out to Gore tomorrow, does anyone know a place to demo skis? Any recommendations on where to start the day? Lots of appealing terrain, not sure where to start. Thanks in advance!

Frankly if you are an intermediate or above almost anything off the triple and the Gondi if you like steeps off the Gondi to Uncas Black trail or Pine Knot - blue trail or take the cutover to the top of true Gore and have fun on Rumor, Lies ,Chatiemac but they are quite steep

Gore's an easy mountain to figure out. When you get to the top you can see the High Peaks in the distance- quite a sight. Check out Burnt Ridge too.

Two chairs? You were lucky. When I was there on Friday many of the trails I wanted to ski on were groomed after Thursday's storm but you couldn't see the chair in front of you and I'd HEAR the lift before I'd see it. I didn't care about blue skies at that point..I just wanted to SEE.

Getting off Fairview and heading past the Saddle Lodge I almost ran into a tree. It was THAT bad. You literally couldn't see people in front of you. I'm glad I wear a bright colored jacket.

I wanted to go up to the very top something fierce but after a blind run on Uncas and Top Ridge I opted out and stayed on trails from the top of the gondola on down. Even then the the runs down were almost whiteout conditions for the first third. I was skiing by "feel".

After awhile you would come out of it and I did see some scenery (it was beautiful) but the runs were almost over. Still had fun but I can't say I experienced much of Gore's blacks. I'll have to go back again.

Most decent intermediates can ski Hawkeye or Chatiemac. Rumor's and Lies are steep at the top and can be a challenge. Try the new trails at Burnt Ridge , long and empty,

I regret not going over to Burnt Ridge. A "must do" for next time. I was planning to check out Hawkeye and Chatiemac but the fog put that plan on hold too.

Shame I couldn't have gotten back Saturday. I'll bet it was a decent spring-like day.

Burnt ridge was better than awesome on friday. Hit that lift for awhile going through barkeater and cirque glades...all ungroomed runs made it challenging but fantastic

Skiing was EXCELLENT today. They got probably 2" of fresh between 11:30 and 1:00. I'll get a trail report going tomorrow. Thanks for all of the advice!

Glad you had a good day. I've been out of action or would have chimed in. Sounds like you did well regardless. Burnt Ridge is under utilized because people seem to resist any amount of skating at all. Funny that Gore's lowest elevations often have the best snow, for this very reason.

FYI - Our forum does have a lot of Gore skiers. Also Whiteface, Plattekill, Hunter and some others.
