I have a suspicion as to where the growing number of destination skiers are staying-- Lake George.

That's not a bad idea actually, only an hour away from Killington as well, if you wanted to make it a multi-area trip...may have to consider that.

The Lake George area has done a good job of marketing itself in recent years as the place to stay, despite being a half hour away from the mountain. With better lodging and a greater variety of activities nearby, only a hardcore skier that wants first tracks would stay in North Creek. Hopefully, the interconnect and the proposed Front Street Development gives North Creek the shot in the arm that it needs.

Yep . . . I agree that there are a pretty good amount of people staying in the Lake George area. . . . There's really not THAT many hotels around North Creek Proper . . . Lake George has plenty of hotels (from the booming summer business) and plenty of places to eat and drink . . .

For North Creek, I think that a nice village (hopefully more Tremblant than Stratton) at the Ski bowl would be kind of cool. Apparently, there are some new restaurants in North Creek this year including a Wine Bar and something called the "Ski Bowl Cafe". Plus, there's always Laura's. . . .

Yes the terrain at the ski bowl is flat, however, what the connection will do (it is a work in progress with phase 2 being compleeted this summer for opening this winter. Gore is openeing as new terrain area called "Burnt Ridge" over the next few years (as I understand it) there will be more terrai opening up with the intentions to run terrain all the way to the ski bowl, in effect connecting the town with Gore mopuntain, so that one may stay in town, walk to the ski bowl and ride lifts all the way up to Gore proper, and ski there all day. Pretty good if you as me because there are not to many ski-in ski-out towns in the northeast. It should also bolster some economic development in the town as well.

Thats a real good concept....asuming theres actualy someplace in town to stay at, which when I was there in April there werent. Its a little town- only saw 1 place to stay. There are others in the vicinity but not so you could walk to the ski bowl. Guess its longrange plan.

Friend has a lake house on Schroon Lake. Takes like 30 mins. Unfortunately there is no running water in the winter.
