For you animal/nature lovers out there....Last night I watched a documentary on the grizzly man ...Timothy aka Trevor on the discovery channel. He spent 13 years studying and protecting the bears in Alaska, until his death by one,several years ago. Some people actually feel "he deserved" what happened to him because of his interference with the bears. I found this film interesting, but I do have mixed feelings about wether he was just a nut job, and/or truly a "Potecter" of these animals. He spend months at a time alone living with the bears, and I suppose that in itself would make anyone kind of crazy without any human contact. His films of the bears are spectacular, but what I found even more fascinating was the beauty of his still shots of the bears and other aniamls he surrounded himself with. Just wondering if anyone else saw this and your reactions/feelings if any...

Saw it months ago..I think I have the DVD somewhere lying around....anyway..I find on many message boards that there are different views to his "mission". I enjoyed the story and the amazing scenery, but am still skeptical as to whether Timothy Tredwell was protecting or endangering these bears.. Making bears "comfortable" with humans is usually frowned upon..it is certianly by me, but im no authroity. Seems it might make bears an easier target for hunters if they don't associate humans with death...

it was interesting and he got awful close to those bears until he got TOO close one too many times..

Spinal tap of bear movies

I have seen this movie three times and it is a great film for so many reasons none of which I think the director intended. Everytime I watch it I feel like I am watching spinal tap. The characters of the film not just the main one, all of them especially jewel his friend who gets the watch are all just so whacked. They all feel like christopher guest characters and situations to many it seem like a mockumentary and if i did not remember the news story at the time of his death vividly i would think the director was puttingus on. Even warner hetzog the director seems a little demented. Again I loved the movie but possibly for all the wrong reasons. I laughed alot during it. The best part is either him taling to the bear in the stream behind him like it is a a puppy or the scene where jewel his friend gets the watch that was tims watch that came out of the bears ass and it still works. Some watch manufacturer somewhere is conflicted about an endorsement deal. PRICELESS

I felt the same way about it...almost like at the end all of the characters would come out from behind a curtain, bow to the viewing audience, and say "just kidding".
