Conditions: Packed Powder, Groomed, COLD!!!!
Trip Report: After a rather uneventful New Years Eve, I decided to pack up the old Subaru and head north to Gunstock today, under spectacular albeit frigged blue bird skies. Today was the first day I got to ski on my brand new Salomon Impact boots, (a little Chanukah Present to myself) which I absolutely love! Arriving at the base at 9, the High Speed Quad was not running just yet (due to wind I am guessing). Since I did want to take a warm up run, I took up the Ramrod Quad and down nice and easy phelps. By the time I got to the bottom again, the Panorama High Speed Quad was up and running. The temperature up at the top was about -2, not the coldest I have skied, but pretty damn close. One nice thing about the sub zero temperatures was that the mountain was empty. Being that I was the second one on the lift, I had the great opportunity to get fresh tracks down trigger, which was wall-to-wall corduroy. The extra 2-3 inches they got last night seemed to help freshen up the hill. The next run was down Gunsmoke, which was more hard packed then Trigger. Then I took a run down pistol afterwards. At this time people were starting to trickle in which was a good time to get some hot chocolate! I took a few more runs, this time down Trigger through the Flintrock Chute eventually making my way to Tiger which was nice and fast. I took a few more runs back down Trigger and Gunsmoke. Eventually I grabbed some lunch and a few more runs before calling it a day around 2pm. Here are a few pictures from my outing.
