Resort or Ski Area: Gunstock - Gilford, NH

Conditions: Packed Powder to Spring Conditions

Trip Report: So this weekend was all about the season passholder at Gunstock. Yesterday I made it up there for the first time for the season passholder first tracks (lifts opening at 7:30). It was really awesome to get on the lift before everyone else, not to mention the free hot chocolate too. Ended up doing about 21 runs, and canvassing the entire mountain. Hit all the open trails including Upper Ramrod (which clearly I forgot how terrible it is at the end before what was once known as "the Precipise") - nothing like traversing uphill... All in all it was a very packed down on the hill, but a good one none the less. Next week will be Magic and the Nashoba pondskim!

all about the season passholder at Gunstock.

how have you liked your season pass? I'm considering a pass there b/c 1) close enough to home and 2) I can add the xc center for a few add'l $$$. The terrain worries me though...not particularly challenging.

Angus, this has been my second season having their pass and I do like it. While the terrain is predictable, there is enough on the mountain to keep it interesting. The glades, hotshot, and the Tiger trail pod are all worth the price of the pass ($439 this year). For me also, since my family has a house in gunstock acres, it just makes sense for me. Having the pass and hunting some cheap tickets through here and elsewhere, you're able to change it up more often than not. This year I am on track to hit 20, and this is the first time since my son was born that I have been able to ski so much.

The steepest sections are off the Tiger Triple which is my favorite pod at Gunstock, especially for night skiing.
They sometimes let RedHat over there bump up naturally but not sure I'm aware of any seeded mogul program at Gunstock.
Nothing at Gunstock is particularly challenging to an advanced skier but they do a nice job snowmaking and grooming and the pass price is a good value I think.
They make an effort to go into April and get open just after Thanksgiving so its a decent season length.

No seeded bump program.....and I lobbied hard as a pass holder. when there's natural there are decent bumps on red hat but not spectacular.
Gunstock is a well run operation. Personally I've enjoyed my season at crotched better but that's mainly due to far superior tree skiing. Can't always count on that in southern nh

DHS, if they were to seed bumps, would you return as a season passholder? Red Hat was all bumped up on Saturday, but it was frozen solid... A little beyond my confort level personally. Basically, Gunstock is great if you're in the area and use it as a base to ski from...
