I tried searching around the forum before posting this, but Luke Stafford who did the snow reports in the morning the past few years along with helping really push Carinthia this year has left. This spot has been taken by Vinnie Lewis.

Just wanted to fill in fellow Mt Snow season pass holders and such who might know of Luke. I don't know the reasons behind it, but might soon after wrapping up an interview for the Snow Faction website.

Luke was/is alot more than a snowreporter. Last year he was the communications director for Mount Snow and handled way more things than just the snow surface, and did it in a cool, fun way.

Plus, with the amount of summer events at Mount Snow, communications/promotions is a big thing year round.

OK pardon my ignorance..I wish the people who own Mount Snow and Big Boulder bought Blue mountain!!!!

I'll gladly ensure they have an amazing telecommunications system to do that with!

I have read that there had been changes like that up at Attiash with people leaving that was left from the old ASC days .. Do you think it is Peak Resort putting their choices in now after a couple of years ownership?

Mount Snow early last fall did some consolidation in the communications/PR department because of their plan to heavily market Carinthia to the park/pipe crowd. They eliminated that position from Mount Snow and shifted it to the person that Peak employed at Jack Frost/Big Boulder where they were already used to marketing a park heavy area to the greater New York Market.

Atleast based on what I saw volume wise at Carinthia this season AND the vibe/swagger that the communications department had this year, things appeared to be going well and promotions appeared to be bringing consistantly good volumes of folks to the hill

And I'd bet that between myself, Vcunning and Glenn that we could provide almost weekly weekend "beer quality control sessions" for you new hires  ;) ;)

Did someone say "Beertender"?

I believe Vinnie ran the Mount Snow Training Center. I saw him working with Greg Fisher (Marketing & Events Director) at the Winter BrewFest. I figured it was just an "all hands on deck situation" at the end of the year during a big event with limited seasonal help. Maybe it was a planned transition?

Here's my favorite Luke video. It was a little before he started his right arm series.

Wow! That's too bad! That's one thing I really like about Mt. Snow: their communications/PR efforts. From the Right Arm vids, to the Mt. Snow Minute...to even the snow reports...everything always had a tone of fun and humor in it.

While we're on the subject of Mt. Snow and communications.... I noticed that Halley left after the season was over. Is that a seasonal position, where someone is only there for the winter months? Will she be returning next season?

Snow reporter at Mount Snow is a seasonal position. I know from talking with Halley during her last weekend this year, that if she isn't employed elsewhere next season that she said that she'd be interested in a 2nd season as Mount Snow's snow reporter.

Thanks Jeff! That certainly is interesting. But it does make sense. There's probably not much snow to report on from now until Octoberish.

As much as I think it would make for some cool year round clips on their website, something tells me that from a financial standpoint having a golf course reporter/mountain bike trail reporter/hiking trail reporter doesn't get the same bang for the buck as a snow reporter ;) Although they'd likely make for some really funny bits!

And having talked to MANY of their snow reporters over the years, the length of their employment is typically early October to early April. Luke was the exception to that in that he basically ended up creating a fulltime position for himself after the snowreporter term for a number of reasons where his inventiveness and creativity I'd guess played a major role

Yeah, drjeff is correct on that. Halley wanted a full time position, but they wouldn't give it as they only needed it seasonally; therefore, she 'left' for the summer as well. I thought she did a good job as a snow reporter on RSN in the mornings for Mt Snow and of course her snow reports on the website. Much better than the previous girls they've had in those positions.

So do you know what happened to Luke?

Here are the details from the Mount Snow Passholder's Site:

The rumor you discuss of is true. There have been some changes within Mount Snow's marketing department and across the resort. We wish Luke the best of luck in all his future adventures as he developed some great features and programs at Mount Snow through his snow reporting, writing, and video features.

Vinnie Lewis has accepted the position of PR & Events Manager.

Vinnie comes to the marketing department from the Training Center where he managed all Training Center programs, T.C. events, childcare and the ambassador program. Vinnie will continue to manage all training center events and the ambassador program while adding PR and marketing events to his responsibilities.
