As I've mentioned, my hip has been sore for almost two months now, since I popped it while bowling.

I finally broke down and went to the dr's today. He thinks I have a torn muscle, and sent me for an x-ray. Hopefully I'll hear the results in the next 48 and find out whether i'm looking at therapy or surgery.

"What do you mean brought it bowling? I'm not renting it f'ing shoes, I'm not buying it a f'ing beer, he not taking your f'ing turn Dude."

Sorry, thought an obscure quote would be appropriate.

Hope you heal up soon dude. Woiuld be ashame to miss any of the ski season.

If you do you'll have to come up with a much better story than hurting it bowling to tell the ski bunnies. Like for instance, twisting it on a rock running down the trail with three eight year olds on each arm you rescued from the rare New England grizzly bear...

No, a pack. A whole pack of grizzlies... yeah that sounds better.

And you weren't running from them, you were chasing after them, after rescuing the three eight year olds (or one 24 year old?). And a puppy. You saved the puppy, too. But those nasty bears pulled an Ewok on you and tripped youup. You still got one of them, though- made a rug out of him, laid out nice and cozy in front of the fireplace at your lodge...

Yeah, that's the ticket!

Hope you heal up, Stephen. I'm still nursing my elbow, too, though it's more my ulna now- any tortional stress on it hurts like a mofo. Those dange bears'll get you every time. Which reminds me of my favorite toast: "May neaither rain, nor drought, nor blizzard disturb the joy-juice in your gizzard. May you camp where the wind won't hit you, where the snakes don't bite, and the bears won't get you."

Yeah, my thumb is still black and blue from what looks suspiciously like I closed it in a car door...

when in reality I crushed it underneath the blade of a bulldozer rescuing a construction worker who was building a new habitat for the baby seals at the San Diego Zoo.

A project that I also happened to design, propose, and fund single handedly.
