Just here to say that yesterday at Jay was SICK! We skied Saturday which was really good, boot to knee deep all day. But yesterday........holy crap! It nuked all night Saturday night and all day Sunday. We were getting knee to waist deep all day. The snow was so light, probably the best powder day I have ever had here in the east coast, if not the best day all around. The pics on jaypeakresort.com show it pretty good. Keep an eye on jaypeakvideo.com, hopefully he'll get his stuff together soon and post some of the video we took.

Did I mention it was SICK????

Seconded. The weekend at J was a fairytale. Big J must have been awesome today. Mansfield was also very good today. Skied fresh snow until that last pitch to the road. 2 people had been in in front of me and the line slid to the groud thru the choke. Still very good snow with some wind effects on the ridges. Profanity was slabby up top, but not so much that is sucked. More tonight and tomorrow?

I third that...

I was there yesterday as well. It was SICK. 3' deep on average in the untracked everywhere. We hit up Beyond Beaver Pond, JFK, Staircase, Vertigo, Deliverance, the Islands on Stateside and a Dip run from hell. Key tip, don't let the sketchy shop rat lead the way to the Dip pick up spot. We ended up at a cabin on the hike trail 1/8 mile down the road but we did hit the deepest untrack snow of the day. The snow was so light it was ghostly. Even 106mm skis were hitting the bottom in spots. Oh, another thing. Look out for a log in JFK woods. I started to charge thru on of the endless blankets of powder when I hit a 10" log that was about 12" under 36" of snow, making that just under knee cap height. I took it full on at speed and double heel ejected, sending my skis back up the hill and moving the log a couple of inches in the process. Needless to say my twice rebuilt knee isn't too happy today. I'm amazed I didn't break both legs. Cool way to start a second run. BTW, Backcountry Mag was there testing '08 product. It will be interesting to see what they liked.

Karhu BC 100s got my pick. Followed by the team then the 90. I also liked the Atomic Januk Bros, but other people hated them. They were my first pair of skis on Sunday so it's hard to judge. Could have been on some 2x4s and had fun Sunday morning.

Jay was indeed unreal this weekend. I wanted to do the Dip, but was worried about having what happened to powers happen to me. I was so wiped out I could barely make the little hike to Beyond Beaver Pond, let alone 1/4 mile down the road!

What a beautiful mountain, and you gotta love that Jay cloud.

That was a good idea. It left plenty of snow for the rest of us. We made 3 runs before noon. Fresh every time.
