How was the MLK weekend crowd?

Saturday at Hunter was busy. Maybe not that busy for MLK weekend, but the base seemed crowded. The quad had some kind of mechanical glitch for about 45 minutes maybe during the mid-morning, which led to fairly long lines at F. Z had essentially no lines, so probably not among the most crowded of all time.

Completely agree with this. Skied Jay both Saturday and Sunday and Sunday I skied on almost every lift whereas Saturday saw some of the longest lines of the season. Sunday was not even that cold. Weather may have been a factor but I think it was more the games. Monday on the other hand was a freezer.

You missed the worst of the lines on Saturday. Skied Jay Saturday, Sunday & Monday. Saturday started out with typical long lines then around noon the Flyer brook down and was closed the rest of the day. The long lines on the Jet and Bonnie then doubled in size. The Jet lines were double the size of the roped off section. Sunday there were no lines except the Tram. Monday the temperature was brutal, -16 F at summit and windy. No one was on the Freezer and even the Tram had no wait all day long.

I guess I played my cards right:

Saturday at Mt. Ellen was no worse than what I imagine an average Saturday is like. We used the singles line 1 time. I'd say 10 chair or less wait the rest of the time (never more than 5 mins).

Sunday at Lincoln Peak was not bad at all, pretty similar to Saturday at Mt. Ellen, and got pretty quiet from Lunch on w the games.

Monday at Lincoln Peak was slightly less crowded than Sunday.

Both Sun and Mon were cold but not nearly as bad as the forecast made them seen, which prob had a good effect on the crowds.

Like usual for this year, KMart wasn't all that busy on Satuday. The two gondolas had lines. Superstar was a few minutes. Everywhere else was no line or minimal line. I heard the Killington Base Lodge was busy. I did my lunch break at the Peak bar. I got bar real estate after a 3 minute wait.

Skied Sunday at Gore and Monday afternoon at Hunter. Gore had no lines except for the gondola at the base, and that line was only a few minutes. At Hunter I used only the express quad, F-lift, and Z-lift. Only the quad had lines, but the singles line completely took care of it. However, some of the trails at Hunter were somewhat crowded, at least more crowded than I'd prefer. It was acceptable though.

Make sense Killington was not busy since the New Managements policy seems to be to do everything possible to keep those pesky customers away!

I heard about the Freezer breaking down while riding the lift on Sunday. Not that I was feeling bad for leaving due to the crowds... but perhaps I feel even more satisfied with that decision as I felt a tinged of guilt "bagging out" while I was still finding some okay snow conditions in the woods. Just couldn't deal with everyone else.

you couldn't have picked a colder day to ski saddle back could you!

If i could have picked a colder day I would have, at least the memories of yesterday will make next summer tolerable. I love cold and snow and am Sugarloaf hardened.

In the Catskills it was a packed Saturday, steady to busy Sunday and busy for a Monday but not at all busy for a holiday. MLK weekend is not the huge weekend that it used to be. A lot of businesses do not consider Monday a holiday anymore.

Very surpeized at the lack of crowds at Cannon.Saturday morning I got on the detach at the 8:30 opening. After 1 minute there was no wait.Never more than 1 minute anywhere I went.Sunday saw even less people for a holiday weekend.I left at noon to get home for the game and the crowds were sparse.Did the cold scare everyone away?

Okemo was very crowded saturday (19-Jan). Took a break after lunch by the half-pipe and one of the employees mentioned that they estimated over 10,000 people there that day. Half-pipe competition announcer mentioned the same number as well.

First post for me. Long time viewer of the forums here.

Mount Snow was deserted Monday. Skiing onto the Summit Quad at 1 PM on a holiday is unheard of.

All those reports are pretty interesting. Any report for Wawa?

Got to Wachusett to do some runs late afternoon/early evening on Saturday and was on lift by 4:00. Lots were absolutely jammed (luckily scored a space in row 6 of upper lot). Ticket woman at window said they had stopped selling during day as capacity had been reached. Tuning tech in shop said by the time he got in by 8:30 am, he was parking in a lower lot. Lift lines were fairly long even when we left by 8:30pm.

Daughter had race there Sunday and we were bracing for an onslaught that never came. Lift lines even in am were relatively short. We pretty much cleared out after race/awards by 1:30 and there appeared to be barely any wait at lifts.
