Looks like Saturday will be the cooler of the two days. Sunday should be downright spring like. I plan on hitting the bumps switch...on my carving skis...'cause that's how Dan Egan would do it.

Think things have a chance to softening up tomorrow in the sun? Would rather go on Sunday but have family stuff going on...

I'm just hoping places can "survive" the next 12 days, so that if cold returns in late-March we can get hit with another storm or two.

You and me both BG. Hitting K and Pico this weekend, then Ellen, Jay and Smuggs next. Then I guess I'll have to play it by ear for the 1st week in April. Utah could still be in that equation too if I could find a decent airfare. On the local front CBK says they plan to make snow tonight. From what I understand they are trying to keep the front four and will shed the rest as they fall. So far they've lost 2 trails (Pocono Raceway and Near East). It's been one rough year.

The answer is..... a few resorts have already thrown in the towel(a few in PA) all owned by the same company, I think. Most of the resorts in southern part of the northeast that depend mostly on natural will have a tough time. A few might close a few might go to weekends, most will survive. The resorts in the Daks, the Greens, the Whites, SR, Saddleback and Loaf in Maine have gotten snow this winter. Less than last year for sure.

The Bush got 2-4" overnight. I assume many others in northern tier of the northeast did as well. It did rain during the late afternoon and early evening when I was heading home. It rained most of the night, not alot, at my place near the Mad River while it snowed on the Bush. These resorts that have alot of snowmaking "can survive" is not on the business plan in the next 12 days. Adjustments might have to be made, it's spring skiing, albiet a bit early, many resorts are prepared for the current scenerio.

No snow this winter in Boston, NYC area, Buffalo and PA is definately wierd. Alot folks this past month from PA and Buffalo area, very unusual. When I chat with them and ask why they came to northern Vermont, most are skiing/riding one day at 3/4 diferent resorts, the answer has been a strong, " because there has been no snow back home". Many resorts are offering killer midweek deals.

Next time I can get to VT will be the weekend of the 23-25, Smuggs is a definite, then either Burke or Jay. The woods at Jay were fantastic last weekend. Moguls between trees everywhere. Andre's Paradise was living up to its' name.

I have a few midweek night passes for Camelback, perhaps I'll use them tonight (I think Fri night is "midweek"), while the gettin' is good. I dont think the Poconos are going to survive much longer despite what they claim. The long-term outlook is an absolute blowtorch for these parts.

I hope Plattekill can make it till the end of the month, plan on one day of their season pass holder weekend. I was surprised Greek Peak looked pretty good on their web cam this morning. It was pretty wilted on Wednesday, 65 degrees, and it rained a lot yesterday. I'll ski it tomorrow, if I'm not satisfied, I may hit Hunter on Sunday. Supposed to be 53 and sunny, sweet. Must remember sun block, must remember sun block, must remember sun block. Always forget that, and shorts for the hot tub when traveling in the Winter. Let's see, I'm going skiing, what do I need? Swim trunks, and sun block don't usually pop into my mind.
