Interesting. have to track these guys this season. Their FB page has an actual nek forecast. Anybody know who they are?
Monday will feature another surface low pressure moving in from the Gulf of Maine early Monday morning, moving Northwestward into Quebec late in the day. This energetic storm will provide moisture laden air from the Atlantic Ocean across our region resulting in more upslope snow showers. This low is a bit stronger than the one that went well north of our area on Saturday, and should (providing the storm track doesn't change from the going forecast) provide the area with 3 to 5" of snow, higher amounts towards Jay Peak. Highs on Monday will be in the upper 20's, lows Monday night dip into the upper teens.
Tuesday & Wednesday will essentially be carbon copies of each other as far as weather is concerned. The North Country will remain under the cyclonic flow that we've been stuck under with a chance of snow showers on and off in the valleys, with more widespread snow in the higher terrain. Highs on both days will struggle into the lower 20's, with overnight lows either side of 10 degrees.
Thursday the cyclonic flow begins to slip eastward as a ridge of high pressure builds across the North Country Thursday and Thursday night. Mostly cloudy skies on Thursday may give way to a few peeks of sunshine which many of haven't seen in a few days now. Highs on Thursday struggle again to make 20 degrees and overnight temperatures take a nose dive for the 0 degree mark with lows in the single digits, may even see a below zero in some of the cooler locations such as Island Pond.
Friday a warm front approaches as high pressure slips away, bringing a chance of snow showers back into the area during the day and on Friday night. Temperatures will begin to climb closer to seasonal norms on Saturday as a storm system passes to the North of us.
**On a side note - I will be leaving for Dallas, Texas on Monday...(no I'm not running from the up coming cold weather this week), but heading off for 2 weeks of training that will keep me busy. Depending on my schedule, I may or may not have time to post here as frequently. Either way, head on over to Northeast Kingdom Weather for your latest forecasts, live weather cams, and whatever else you might be looking for at www.nekweather.net
