Seemed like a nice day to ski so I headed up to Hunter mid-morning today. Armed with a genuine Philty-O tune and wax, I figured it would be icy death cookies after the rain earlier this week. When I arrived and hit the snow at 10:45, the first thing I noticed was that the quad was down. B to F lift only. The quad had apparently "exploded" the day before. Never did find out what really happened. Jessica?

Once at the summit, the next thing I noticed was that the mainline had been resurfaced. They had blown snow. And it was good. Really good, especially with a fresh tune. The left corner of Hellgate was great, the rocks staying covered at the extreme left until about 1pm. After a 15 minute lunch at about 2pm, I went until last chair, switching to the fence line on Hellgate which was filled with pushed off soft snow and a fun berm/bump line the rest of the day.

Really felt good today. More skiing on Friday.

Big interview tomorrow, #5 with this company. Employment looms.

In response to a few comments that were not approved, the quad did not "die." If it hasn't been fixed today (we got the parts around 3pm, so it was kind of late), it will be fixed soon. We will obviously update everyone as we hear from Lift Maintenance. We have a really great Lift Maintenance team and we have full confidence that they will resolve the problem as soon as possible. Until the quad re-opens, we will be using B, F and D to compensate on busier/weekend days, and B and F during the week.

I'd bet they have it re-opened very soon.

Me too...it moved a bit on Wednesday afternoon.

You know how the rumors fly in the seasonal locker room...First it was a pop someone heard, then smoke, then grinding, then it "exploded". Probably went nuclear by 2 pm or so.

It broke. It'll be fixed.

This will be my next job...nothing in writing yet. They're still working on compensation details, but the draft sounds good to me. The only bad thing is that it will probably start on Jan 1 08.

Sucks...I guess I'll have to ski until then.
