Resort or Ski Area: Hunter
Conditions: Man-Made Powder / Packed Powder
Trip Report:
I left for Hunter at 6am on Monday from Central Jersey. There was about 8 inches of snow at home. It was strange to drive north into less and less snow. I got to the mountain by 8:30 and caught maybe the tenth chair. It was cold (teens) but sunny. That first run was one to remember. The 7th Ave / Broadway section in the middle of the mountain was a wide open expanse of untracked, uniform and sun drenched powder. There was no one else in sight and my skis made no sound. The steeper front-side terrain was pretty nice corduroy. I skied around for a while and then headed over to the west side once a crowd formed at the quad. Conditions over there were very enjoyable too. They blew snow all day on Claire's. I mostly lapped Colonel's Alternate to Claire's with a few food/beer breaks until my legs would no longer cooperate. I packed it in at about 3pm and headed home.
