Hunter continues to deliver with intermittant snow showers great snowmaking (now off) and bumps galore.
There is some snowmaking hard pack poking through, but no glare ice and pelnty of powdery bumps. Crowds have been light and the quad has been running 90%.

Today, New Years Day, a rare treat. They groomed Annapurna. Was nice for a change, and we have plenty of bumps on Clairs, K 27, Upper Cross Over, plus a seeded line with jump on Broadway.

I'll be at hunter for the first time ever Monday 1.4. Any hints or tips. I am a snowboarder, and I just like to ride.

Great day at Hunter today (Jan. 2nd). Some of the higher traffic areas were getting scraped/blown off, but there was a surprising amount of fresh snow all over the mountain. Sun poked out around midday, but by late afternoon it was getting cold and blustery. More runs had been groomed than I was expecting, but even those runs (Cliff, for example) were developing some personality as the day went on, given all the relatively soft snow. Despite all the recent lift angst, I never saw the Quad shut down, and I spent most of my day on lifts without any lines: on the Y lift lapping Annapurna and on the D lift, where I thought Ike and Gun Hill Road (and some of the trees in between--who knew Hunter had skiable trees?) had some of the best snow on the mountain.

There's actually a bunch of good tree skiing, look for the tracks.....and watch out for cliffs.

Sacrificed a day at Hunter...for 3 days at the Bush starting tommorow...but I would have liked to ski Ana and Clairs...but I think the Bush will keep me busy.

"developing some personality"

 That's a great line.

Interesting. I'll keep exploring . . . cautiously. Don't want the phrase "rock skis" to become too literal, and I've seen what most of that terrain looks like without snow on top of it.
