Here's another image of a conceptual plan that Hunter created a few years ago, which is, well, more colorful:

interesting

that shows a few more trails than the dmc edition.

is the long straight trail back to Hunter summit pretty well flat?

Was just getting ready to post that... :)

In this version you can see a trail to the property line past the XTrail and some runs from XTrail down to Purna...

Hot Off The Press! POMA 6-pack lift installation beginning soon!

We know the skiers and riders who call Hunter Mountain home love our slopes and the energy that surrounds us. We also realize that for our skiers and riders to truly enjoy these slopes, we need to invest in "your" mountain...what better investment, than a brand new base to summit lift?

Leitner-Poma has consistently been the leader in high-speed aerial lifts for the winter sports industry and they have been chosen to supply Hunter Mountain with a detachable Six Pack lift to replace the existing Snowlite Express (Quad-Lift) . Construction will commence as soon as our season ends and we plan to have the new Six Pack up and running for some late summer Sky Ride enjoyment.

This capital improvement is another major step in the effort to make your experience here at Hunter Mountain all it could be... And that's not all. In the summer of 2011 we also plan to remove the Z & Y lifts on our famed West Side to make room for a Quad that will carry a new line and allow for better snow making coverage over the black diamond terrain.

We're looking for a name...so please drop us a line if you think you have the perfect name for the new Six Pack at Hunter Mountain!

Stayed tuned and watch our progress on HunterMtn.com all spring and summer long.

This is great news. Hopefully this and a better economy will bring in more guests so that Hunter can do an expansion project next!

Finally! is about all I can say. Hopefully they keep capacity the same until there are any new trails.....but, the West Side lift upgrade being official too, is great news.

Good stuff. Any of the Hunter regulars have a good/funny name suggestions?

Slutsky's Sleighride
Slutsky's Skyship
Izzie's Xpress
Orv's Oryx (Ok that's a stretch, but you try to match "Orv.")
Greenland Greyhound (Greenland Mtn was Hunter's original name.)

West side:
Clair's Chair
The Colonel's Chair

I thought this was interesting. I dont know how you might read it

"In the summer of 2011 we also plan to remove the Z & Y lifts on our famed West Side to make room for a Quad that will carry a new line and allow for better snow making coverage over the black diamond terrain."

"carry a new line and allow for better snowmaking coverage"

I wonder if this new Qaud will not follow the current Y liftline, as it seems to suggest the new line will be moved out of the way so the snow guns can roar

Yeah I hope it goes up the X line. I wasnt sure if that was going to case though if they didnt have any new trail expansion planned.

Another little tid bit, looks like they are going to reuse the current Quad on the westside
Jessica at Hunter wrote this in the blog:

"One thing at a time... :) I think we have a lot on our plate right now with the zipline and the new lift, then moving the Quad over. We'll see what happens!"
