The last picture has what could be the motor room on top of the guide rails. You would have to run high current electrical service to the top, to drive it from there. The fixed grip quad "B" lift had power at the top because of it's vicinity to "F" lift.

Mechanical Engineering isn't my specialty, what's the advantage to locating the drive up top. I know I feel uneasy when I see Mountain Staff and Central Hudson poking around the Electrical Service by the base. I did read recently there was 5 mil in a low interest USDA back loan for this. They might justify moving high current lines to the top if the quads drive is also going to the top. They wouldn't need any at the base of the West Side once Z and Y are out. The service at the summit right now just has to operate the furnace, lights, concession stand and the emergency radio relay equipment kept up there for local EMS.

It is more efficient to have the drive at the top because it only has to pull the main weight up. With the motor at the bottom it has to pull the weight up and down.

And why is the old terminal still at the bottom, pratically on top of the new terminal???

Interesting rumers/comments heard yesterday -

1. Keeping it there in case the new moter does not work - they can use the old very reliable one. This has got to be false, can't imagine this is true, but what do I know.

2. Mgt is irrated at the Zipline group, and the new zip from the top is supposed to end there. Again, can't imagine this logistically but....

Maybe they aren't moving it until they're ready to install it on the other side next year?

That's my guess. I bet it will stay put until they have the footings and what not ready to accept it in it's new location. I does look pretty stupid though...

agree - and it is so close to the new lift base, it would be very risky to remove it with a helicopter as it might hit the new base.

Something's not right ---
