Hunterado skiing Mar 2
Hi All,
What a day! We had mostly sun this am, no wind & perfectly groomed powder on all main trails. It was real ego snow with perfect visibility and temp around 35 but now 45. The snow turned into spring conditions by 11:30 and high clouds moved in. All front side trails were excellent and Racer's was groomed at the top and about 1/3 the width on skiers right. The rest was left sas powder moguls. Rt 80 was also very sweet with corduroy powder. Claire's, Apurna & 44 were left as pure soft powder mogul fields - there was no ice or hard pack. Quad, F, B & Z were running.
There was no D lift again today which is contrary to the mtn daily report & website which showed it as open both days.
Yesterday's Localmotion race had about 70 participants with the party at Vertical Drop. The crowds were light with no real lines at any lift.
Thankfully, heavy NY State and Greene County snow removal equipment showed up late yesterday and last night to clean up 23A in Tannersville and today through Hunter. Most power has now been restored although some secondary streets still need some snow clearing work.

I have also attached a link (thanks Alan) to some photos taken during the Z lift Exodus / Death March when power failed on Saturday and about 300 including ski patrol who had been in the Z line had to walk the 1.8 miles along Rusk Hollow Rd back to the lodge as no shuttle was running. http://picasaweb.google.com/huntermt2/ZLIFTDEATHMARCH2272010#
Ski ya,
