Getting ready for winter...made the mistake of finding some old movies from last season of us skiing at Burke and Loon...making me SICK looking at the snow and thinkin...just a month to go or less! :D :D

So figured I'd share...

The first film comes compliments of riverc0il and is of me hitting the glades at Burke. Man, I'm so stoked to be skiing there again on a regular basis.

The last two I have come from my good friend, bvibert from our great day at Loon. The first Loon movie is me and the second one is of bvibert. Both of us, as you can see, are ready for Warren Miller and the Meatheads!

At any rate, how about sharing some of your videos for us to laugh at, drool over, and lock into our minds during these last few weeks?

Here's to many more good times AZ!

Sooooooooooooon!

Hey Trailboss thanks for the movies. I wonder if anyone else experiences what I do on the first ride up a lift each season. As I ride up I get this weird sense that I may not remember how to do it anymore. Of course, within seconds of hitting the snow, I get this big Sh-t Eating Grin, and realize that the old body still has the muscle memory and knows how to get me down the trail with little or no conscious thought.

I know I’m ready since I have ramped up my workouts this past week and my legs are in excellent condition. This morning I did 2,600 continuous “turns” on my Skier’s Edge machine for my first set on the machine. That’s abut 26 minutes non-stop. I don’t know of any mountain here in the east that takes that many turns on any run without stopping!

I get that feeling every season! Then after a few runs and my legs are screaming, I realize I need to get back up to speed

TB abd Bvert...great videos...can't believe we didn't get "sprayed" with a hokey-stop.

*disappointed*

Other videos are also to drool over guys.

Thanks for the fix.

The "screaming legs" business is why I bought and use my "Edge Machine." After only twenty days of workouts last season (I bought the machine on 10/28/04 and first skied at K on 11/22) I went the entire first day without a quad burn. The other positive is that the machine works and strengthens all the muscles related to effective "angulation." I have logged all my workouts on the machine since day one, and as of today I am at 214,000 "turns." Of course, I got a little lazy over some of the warmer months, but have been back to it two days on and one day off for the last four or five weeks. At the age of 59 I feel I definitely need an "edge" to maintain my skiing. I generally ski with people anywhere from 10 to 30 years younger than I am, and am never the first to "call it a day."

That would have required way too much extra effort on my part, since my legs were killing me to begin with. ;) It was a great way to end my season though! :D

Great vid, Mergs. Solitude is incredible, isn't it? Saw a lot of familiar places in there throughout Honeycomb and I think Headwall Forest, etc.

Any chance you guys made the hike to Cathederal Bowl? One of my favorite places on that mountain.

A good friend of mine is patrolling this season at Solitude...

I am so psyched to get back there.... :)

You're only wearing your ski boots? Rookie. I was completely geared up for 20 mins last night.

I would have but I had to watch my daughter and I didn't want her drooling all over my ski jacket... ;)
