I went on my 21st birthday. The rickety little plane they took me up in was scarier than the actual dive.

....the quest for the ultimate trip in life....!?

...two words....Wenonah Advantage...!;-)....but I bet once bitten and you learn the degree of safety(like most), skydiving would be pretty addictive.

I did the static line route....me and a few hundred other guys at the same time. A fun little spot called Ft Benning GA.

I had similar experiences. I think it was Jim G who said he had a great vantage point of the plane. Ditto. Odd to see that huge cargo plane sort of hang there with you for a second or two.

I was lucky in that I was the first in the door for 4 of the 5 jumps...so I got to scope out the view.

I bow to all you guys who do the one-day class and jump. Tandem or solo. An extra bow to those who went solo and hung on the wing strut or whatever. Gutsy!

#2 son did the tandem thing last year. He loved it. Bought the video. His partenr (jumpmaster?) spooked him just a bit. It shows up on the video real well. Jumpmaster said. "We'll go on 3!"...He went on two. Apparently that keeps the "tentative"folks off balance. It also spooks the hell out of them.

Unfortunatley...#2 son had a sinus malfunction which he didn't realize until he was on the drive home. Excruciating pain. Had to pull over and call an ambulance for a trip to the emergency room. Apparently not all that uncommon in the "jump" industry.
