What about a Mt. Snow/Killington combination, Snow on Sunday, Killington on Monday? Does this sound like a good plan? I'd prefer to hit killington on the day when it is less crowded, although I know that this upcoming weekend will be hell.

Does anyone know of any decent lodging in between these two resorts, a la comfort inn or holiday inn, etc?

"Rutvegas" (Rutland, Vermont) has a lot of discount places such as the chains mentioned above. Be forewarned...the rates will be higher as will be the crowds thanks to school vacation week. If you are he^&bent on going to Killington, I'd advise going to Pico to avoid the crowds. Don't give up on Burke...cheaper...real VT...less people to ski around
I'm not tossing Burke aside because I dont want to go there, I'm just afraid that its too far to get to and back from in a reasonable amount of time. It does sound like a great place though.

And thanks for the welcome. :D

No problem! If you want, come up on March 5th and join us at Burke. $30 tix through us.

It may be awkward for you to ski Mount Snow and then drive to Killington afterwards. That means you would have to go up Route 100 and that can be a long drive behind a lot of slow cars. The road to Killington is typically up Rt. 7, on the western side of the Green Mountain Forest. I would go with PICO on Sunday and then Killington on Monday. It is lots more convenient.

If you are a AAA member, there lots of good places to stay in the area. My wife and I stayed at the Inn of the Six Mountains for a AAA rate of $67 a night. Here's a listing of AAA discount places in the Killington area.

The Cascades Lodge $$$
Comfort Inn Killington Center $$
The Inn of the Six Mountains $$$$ Phone: (802) 422-4302
Mountain Green Ski & Golf Resort $$$
Sherburne-Killington Motel $$
Val Roc Motel $$
Birch Ridge Inn $$$
Butternut on the Mountain $$
Greenbrier Inn $$
The Mountain Inn $$
Snowed Inn $$$
The Summit Lodge $$$

If you stay near Sugarbush, you're right next to Mad River Glen with Stowe and Killington about an hour away. Smuggs will take 1.5 hrs? (someone correct me if this is off) and I guess Jay would be about 1 hr 45 min. Arguably the very best skiing the East has to offer all within a 2 hr drive. Have fun!

Ugh, this is hard to figure out. Looks like Killington is out of the picture. We're looking to hit either Mt. Snow or Stratton day 1 (or should we hit both on two seperate days?) What other mountains within a reasonable (1-2 hr) drive from this starting point are there?

Stratton is VERY expensive...most expensive in the U.S. Be prepared to pay almost $80 per person JUST TO SKI.

I'd steer you away from that. Why not try Bromley or Magic Mountain which are quite close to that area? Okemo?
