It's touristy, but definately go see the flying fish guys at Pike Place Market. I enjoyed taking the ferry over to Bainbridge Island and having lunch in Winslow.

Tim - when are you going? This time of year is great cuz it never rains from June 15 - Oct 15. But if you are going any other time of the year, bring that umbrella and drink a lot of coffee cuz the weather sucks. Misty and foggy 8 days out of 10.

But if you go there this summer, as other have pointed out, take the ferry over to the islands and check out the Olympic mountains area. Very cool temperate rainforest. Pike St market is cool if you are stuck in town, the Space Needle has nice views of the Sound and lakes. The various Seattle neighborhoods remind me a lot of San Francisco. The area around the U of Washington is a lot of fun. But I was blown away by Mt Rainier. As you drive up to it, it sits all by itself and basically takes up your entire windshield. Huge is an understatement.

Definitely some Java!...and I'm not talkin' bout' the computer lingo...as well as checking the place out @night...(duh).
If you find something you're into easily, make a day of it, otherwise...just finding out connections to several things on the list can be good enough for an initial trip...

I actually only had 3/4th of a day in Seattle, a couple a years back. I road the monorail, went to the Space Needle, checked out pikes place, ate a Bellsomething pizza. Things I would have added if I had the time that day and the Mariners were in town, would have been a game at Safeco and going out to pioneer square for drinks.
