So this gondola in Germany had a full drive train breakdown and folks had to be evacuated. They used a couple interesting ways of getting folks out including, dropping rescuers down to the cabins from a helicopter and the roping the skiers down, also evacing them directly with the helicopter and my favorite is they pulled a firetruck up the hill with a groomer.

Once me and J-Woww got stuck on the lift at Seaside Heights. SHFD had to throw us a rope. J-Woww got down on her own. She pointed two bottles of aquanet to the sand and jetted down like a hovercraft. I was so impressed, I had to buy that girl a drink at beachcombers afterwards.

What would happen if the P2P Gondi at Whistler had a similar breakdown and one of the cars is at the apex...over 1400' above the ground?? Does each car have its own mini motor or something?

I'd be fascinated to learn about the evac procedures for that lift. Probably ride the cable out to each cabin to assist in the evac. But then where you belay the people down to, I have no idea.

In the link they plucked people directly out of the gondolas with a helicopter at some of the cabins that didn't have a good place to rope out. You gotta know German to get that, because it's not obvious by the pics.
