I went to the Stowe event last year and I can verify its a good event. A very nice way to start the season, I got a lot of good pointers that I worked on for the rest of the season. If you have the dough I recommend it. :)

normally i would say the same thing Lostone, but this seems like a legit opportunity to join the epic folks for a highly regarded clinic. nothing i would be interested in attending but folks that would benefit from the experience would sure welcome hearing about it. it is certainly new england skiing oriented regardless and i doubt the folks from epic are profiting one cent from their efforts.
Funny you slammed someone on another forums for SPAM..http://www.snowjournal.com/page.php?cid=topic7881

completely different situation nightingale. i know of the epic ski event because i participate on that forum. the folks that run that forum have a great reputation and as i previously mentioned, i don't think this camp is run for profit but rather for education. i don't mind when folks pimp a not for profit venture to help other skiers. i DO mind when folks look to USE a forum for free for profit advertising. maybe you should try to discern the difference before calling someone out on unrelated issues  and as previously mentioned (for the second time, btw) this was approved by AZ's admin. btw, welcome to AZ... i guess? :-?

WOW! Never ceases to amaze me how the topic of learning inspires such heated debate.

Been a certified PSIA instructor/coach for 15 years; I've enjoyed every minute of it, and so have my students. That said, PSIA lessons are not for everyone. Alot of folks learn to ski by themselves...it isn't that hard, but I'll be the first to tell you it's easier to learn with a few lessons to start.

Been to many PSIA events; some are boring, others have totally rocked. Last season's 2 day trees/steeps event at MRG was epic. A foot of fresh the first day, 2 feet the second. 8 great skiers, an examiner who talked little and skied big, and a guide from MRG made for an amazing outing I would defy anyone to say they wouldn't enjoy being a part of unless they were less than an excellent skier.

That said, this is not a PSIA event, so nobody needs to worry about being seen or photographed with an instructor  . The event sounds like FUN. You know, FUN, the whole reason to ski? And I'm assuming they would form groups with matching abilities like any other clinic; nothing wrong with going to a resort knowing you'll be skiing with a group of other good skiers. The $350 for the Stowe event is more expensive than most PSIA clinics, but I think it's worth it for what you get. And if I was going to spend a week at Alta/Snowbird I would consider the event there too.

But that's me.

Not this year I'm afraid, maybe next?

BTW, Mike Rogan is the real deal. Amazing skier who can and does ski everything. First met him in Portillo, Chile where he was the ski school director. Took me on an insane hike to a 2000 vert foot 45 degree chute...he skied it like he was on beginner terrain.

Between the hike (complete with 2 no fall areas) and skiing the chute, I had to throw my underwear away.
