what if one has no racing experience?

All the more reason to join! WE ABSOLUTELY WANT YOU! It's a great way to learn how to race; It's what the program is intended for. It will improve your free skiing and give you another goal to reach for. And.... your score won't drag down the team. As you get better, your scores improve and then you begin to surplant those above you.

Your first time out: just get around the gates; don't worry how fast or how slow;

Even if you don't improve, it's just a lot of fun and way easier than it looks (These courses are "easy" compared to Masters or Collegiate teams, for example. It's actually very HARD to go faster, because you are turning so much. That's the part that drives me crazy and got me hooked.

I ran my first race at Swain (NY) at age 22, about 29 years ago!

Simply put, it's all about doing your personal best.

Love him or hate him, Bode has a couple words of wisdom about racing that apply to you and me.

Great! Did you select a team too?

The times/places are all listed here:
http://www.nastar.com/index.jsp?pagename=wheretorace

for example:
Pats Peak603-428-7653 Sat & Sun Holidays 11-3 PM 15.52 Downdraft

But be sure before you go - a phone call is a good idea. Many places are just starting up (usually they are in full op after January 1st but things are late this year.)

p.s., the evening "beer" league on Monday night is already full up.
