Mountains of NE, get ready. Killington forecasted for 2", Jay forecasted for 7", all falling THIS SATURDAY NIGHT. Temps are forecasted to nosedive tomorrow with very strong winds. As for southern NE, say goodbye to the rain! Sun and 50 Sunday!

Try the 4-6 day, which puts Jay up to a foot and gives K another inch or so.

And with those temps, maybe we'll see some mice flying Sunday Night?

according to that page, jay is only forecast to receive 2.4" with additional falling sunday afternoon. that looks like an upper elevation forecast only, with the base area substantially above freezing. i think that forecast is being overly generous, even considering the "jay cloud" effect, to suggest jay's summit will receive 7". i consider any source of weather info that receives it's pay check from the ski industry to be suspect. that said, looks like snow up high is likely but it certainly won't be enough for turns. it sure will be nice to hike in though :D

I'll just be glad to get rid of this damn rain.

I was out tonight and holy crap. Shoulda brought a life jacket. Or those little arm floatie swimmie things. I like those. Let the kid drown, but at least his elbows will be dry.

I'm going to get back to my ark now.

ga2ski, i gotta clarify that last post for those not clicking through on the link. it is 31 degrees above 5300' on washington. in other words, the only places likely to get any snow tonight at this point are the peaks northern presis, and barely at that. fwiw, precip is ending here in StJ not even close to freezing point. that snow-forecast site threw a total dud, not a site i would use to predict upcoming snow fall.

don't mean to 'rain' on the parade, so to speak. just think the pre-first-snow-storm-hype is a bit much. i will get excited when i look out my window at work towards burke and see the mountain covered in white.

snowforecast.com is generally pretty good in my mind, and unless their forecast was different earlier, I don't see how it's inaccurate. The current forecast http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Jay-Peak.0to3top.shtml has rain tonight and snow beginning tomorrow morning. But perhaps it's changed from when you first looked at it.

indeed! it was 2.4" for jay tonight only two days ago! i am going to make the call that jay gets no better than trace snow only, if not nothing at all this weekend.

Well I'm no weather forecaster, and my hopes have been let down many times from inaccurate snow forecasts ... but I'd give them a break there. 2 days in advance when I'm guessing they knew the temperature would be boarderline (you can correct me if they were predicting a temp way below freezing) makes the forecast very susceptible to change.

Yeah I menat that it would only snow at the peaks of the mountains, but I still get excited when i see white peaks. Too bad i won't be able to see them from Hooksett.
