At the home hill I pretty much never boot up in the lot...like to head upstairs at Barker, see some friends, boot up in warmth and comfort. On the road...and I did more skiing on the road this winter than at SR, I've had to boot up in the lot a bunch...mostly in Utah, not a lot of day lodges in Utah. Having a Hot Gear bag makes booting up in the car 10X easier and you've still got warm boots when you're done.

No one prefers Eastern skiing to Western.

True as a general rule

However, I'll take a two foot deep powder on Mansfield over anywhere. That is because it's home and I know where to go. I've skied plenty of places out west and the terrain out there is for sure superior, but there's something to be said for familiarity both on the mountain and apres afterwards.

No one prefers Eastern skiing to Western.

I prefer Eastern Spring conditions over Western Spring snow..or to explain more..manmade snow in the spring over natural snow because it stays faster and is less gluey/manky..I've never been a fan of spring conditions out west but enjoy spring skiing in the east because the snow is fast but still soft..

With all the exposure you give them here they should hook you up with a free locker.

Once you get use to a locker bringing your gear in the car seems like a chore.

Lockers are for gapers..my car is my locker..the lodge would be a decent option to boot up in if it wasn't heated to 70 degrees..nothing worse than getting sweaty in the lodge..

You should have a Sundown section like you made for April Fools. Alot of people liked that idea. That way when you go there you know what you're getting into.

So, we're going to make a new section for every ski area that seems to get a lot of attention now? I've heard this a few times now and I just don't get it. Sundown is a NE ski area, why should it not be discussed in the same place as the other NE ski areas? Sure it gets talked about a bunch because a bunch of us are local and ski there quite a bit. I don't understand why people get so worked up about that, if they don't want to read about Sundown then don't. There's plenty of areas that get discussed on these forums that I don't read about because I'll likely never visit them. I don't get upset about it, I just don't read those posts. Heck, there's plenty of discussions about Killington, half of which I don't read because it's not really of much interest to me. I'll read about places I'm likely to visit in the near future, or that are in some way significant to me (Magic, Sundown, BEast, Sugarbush, MRG to name a few), or places that I hope to visit someday soon (Stowe, Jay, Whiteface, Smuggs) and skip a lot of the rest.

If people think the Sundown to other NE ski areas ratio is out of whack then please, by all means, post more about the other areas.

Sorry for the OT...

SKIADK and SKIMRV

I've heard this a few times now and I just don't get it.

Let’s say about 20 racers from Whiteface started posting about racing at Whiteface and racing trails there. Everyday there are more WF posts, racing posts and WF racing posts. In every thread that someone else starts about another topic, the WF racers find a way of injecting WF racing into it.

After months of this you will feel like WF racing is being shoved down your throat.

That’s how I feel about Sundown bump skiing and I’m not the only one.

If you had your own section it would be good for everyone including the C.L.I.T.S.

Go over to the PA forum. Each mountain has its own section and there are also general skiing sections. IMO it’s a good idea.

What would you think is not true of anyone who posts in the AZ skiing/riding forums? If you see a trait listed that doesn’t fit you let us know and why.

1. No one here would rather take a warm weather vacation then a ski vacation.
2. No one here has ever had sex while riding in a gondola.

I hope I’m wrong about 2 so we can read how it doesn’t fit for someone.

its not true. i love summer just as much as winter, and i've claimed cabin 37 at Stowe as mine many years ago.

i don;t sense any spandex wearers in this crowd....

I met some resistance when I broke those two boards out, and neither are hardly active with traffic. And comparing mountains like Gore/Whiteface or SB/MRG to little ole Sundown is silly.

Let’s say about 20 racers from Whiteface started posting about racing at Whiteface and racing trails there. Everyday there are more WF posts, racing posts and WF racing posts. In every thread that someone else starts about another topic, the WF racers find a way of injecting WF racing into it.

Fair enough. But it almost seems like those that are so vehemently opposed to Sundown discussion here are in a way envious of the camaraderie and passion we Sundown skiers share. Nobody is shoving anything down anyone's throat. If you're not interested in Sundown skiing, skip those threads. Again, there were a whopping 2 in May, 6 in April, 9 in March, etc. That doesn't seem too cumbersome to filter though to me.

As far as "finding a way of injecting" Sundown talk into other discussions, I don't see that as anything more than the natural progression of a given thread. For example, in this thread, it so happens that Sundown is the only place I boot up in the car, and that's mostly because no matter where I park I'm usually close enough to just walk in with my boots on. I guess you're suggesting that I shouldn't indicate Sundown in any way? I personally wouldn't ask that of anyone, and a separate Sundown forum is not going to mean that folks that ski there aren't going to post about experiences at Sundown in the general skiing threads.

I think the bottom line is Sundown talk is simply a part of AZ now. Perhaps, that's due to the fact that Brain and I who are mods and the most active posters happen to be pass holders that are passionate about the place, but it is what it is. Some people don't like the Sundown talk, some do. You simply can't please everybody. The Sundown Bump or Bust 3 TR was the most active thread in terms of replies and views ever so obviously somebody's interested....

So, you're advocating a separate forum just for Sundown, like maybe SundownRocks.com? I don't think it would see very much action.

A lot of the Sundown hijacks aren't even started by the Sundown regulars, they're started by people who think they're being funny. The threads that Greg start about Sundown clearly have it in the title so it's easy to not read it. I'm sorry, but if there's a discussion about something skiing related I'm likely to mention Sundown, because that's where I ski the most. Greg tried to not even mention Sundown in this thread, but YOU just had to drag it out.

Not opposed, but I like the culture and passion.

Hell yeah, I'm a funny dude sometimes

I say start a new forum for HPD's and Gregs bickering. :argue:

You're stupid and can't ski. Is that cheap enough for you? Now what?

You guys do have great comradelier and I’m happy for you, but AZ feels like more of a Sundown clique then a general skiing forum sometimes.
