I alway hear people say New York Style Pizza. But it's really neapolitan style pizza that they claimed as thier own and you can find that in any Italian section of any major city. Some better than others. I still say my Grand mother from that very region made the best. Everything freshly made including the sauce from san Marzano tomatoes and the dough.

Everytime I have bought something that was called NY Pizza it was exactly like a Neapolitan style pizza. Hand tossed, thick outer edge, thin crust in the middle, sauce and cheese. Nice tender dough with a good taste. Sometimes it has oragano or italian spices. At lease that is what I got at John's in the Village and other places.

Pinky G's is pretty far from a dive. Pizzas are like 30-40+ bucks a pop there and the guy who owns the joint has a 4 million dollar house.

Don't take this a knock on the pizza though, its the only place I know that has figured out how to make good pizza at elevation.

I played at an open mic at Pinky G's a few years ago. They were fun and welcoming. Much nicer crowd than the "Hoot" at Silver Dollar, which is kind of a weird scene. Not the Silver Dollar, the open mic thing they hold there.

This is going to sound pretty lame, but my go-to pizza source these days is my local Harris Teeter grocery store. It's chain of ~250 stores from DE to FL (owned by Kroger). They have a pizza oven/station in the store and on Mondays a large deluxe is $8.99. It's a semi-thick crust and a lot of pizza for the money. Had some tonight.
I've had pizza a few times from places in the greater NYC area, such as New Haven, and I agree it's really good in that part of the country.

Up this way market basket makes good pizza for cheap. The steak and cheese for 6 bucks is even better.

One thing I will miss about MA/NH is Market Basket. There is no substitute.
👍 I remerber it as Demoula’s….
When we were in high schoo, everyone worked there.
We used to build the end displays, over night for $50 CA$H at the Burlington store.
Mr Demoulas was there every day. Super nice guy

NY and Neapolitan Pizza are similar, but not the same.

Frank Pepe's or similar is Neapolitan. Almost always made with multi day proof dough from "00" flour and cooked at extremely high heat in a coal or wood fired oven.

NY pizza is thin, but a little denser than Neapolitan and often crispier with more bite to it in the center. It's sturdier in the center for lack of a better word. It is also typically less charred on the edges because NY pizza is typically still cooked in a traditional pizza oven at like 550 degrees for a longer period of time vs the often 800+ for a few minutes traditional Neapolitan Pizza is prepared in.

Agreed on Market Basket pizza and subs. Great, consistent product and best value anywhere in New England.

Several times I was at Westfield lately there's been 2 F15s in the "pattern". They fly fairly high and wide. Last weekend there was major earthwork going on, mostly taxiways. The unofficial word was the incoming F35s needed better weight bearing. Where did all the A10s go?

Not too many places you hear, "5DM, you're number 2 following an F15 on a wide base. Report in sight"
Last I knew the A10's all got sent to BDL and the CT Guard. The F-15's actually moved to BAF when they all but shuttered Otis on the Cape. That is a bit shocking that the F-35 is heavier than an F-15. I could see heavier than the F-16's they replaced at BTV, but still.

I rode on a lift this year with an A-10 pilot (retired) who now flies for DAL out of SLC. It's not sexy, but I genuinely think it's one of the coolest warplanes ever made.
I worked a job site in Tucson Az several years ago next to what ever AF base is down there and they were flying Warthogs in and out off there all the time. Pretty cool watching them at a fairly close range. Would agree not as sexy as the F-14's we used to see at another job site near Andrews in Maryland.

I've been curious on this, and finally googled it.

Expansion of taxiway at Barnes airport part of $63 million in public, private, military construction

Story by Jim Kinney, masslive.com

...includes the $4.7 million Taxiway Sierra project completed in 2022, the $7.6 million Runway 15-33 project and the military-funded $4.5 million entrance gate for the Air National Guard Base on Southampton Road (Routes 10 and 202).

The Pentagon announced plans 13 months ago to locate 18 of its $78 million, latest-generation F-35 fighters at the Air National Guard’s 104th Fighter Wing in Westfield beginning in 2025 or early 2026. The new fighters will replace its aging fleet of F-15 fighters, guaranteeing the future of the base and the 104th for 40 years, the expected life of the program.

This newest project, “Taxiway B South,” is the taxiway running parallel to Runway 2-20 and is used by civilian and military aircrafts taking off and landing. But it is too narrow, Willenborg said. The new taxiway will have more space to alleviate bottlenecks and make the airport safer.

5 Million dollars for a taxiway?

Turns out it's stated as a width thing. But an F35 has a wingspan of 35 feet? Gross weight is 66,000 lbs., about the same as an F15.

West Palm Beach in FL just did a complete rehab of its own Taxiway B, a year long project and that cost $9 million. So $5 million is a relative bargain!
