So yeah, I think Ive made up my mind as to where Im going to bum around when I graduate and that choice is Jackson. I love my mountains steep and gnar, and Jacksons trees Ive heard are a hidden gem which will please my east coast roots. Im not expecting anyone to dish out the secret stashes or anything but anyone have any advice for packing up and moving to Jackson. Ive heard housing can be a bitch...

All I can say is I hope you like the food service industry or I hope you're a trust fund baby...because finding work and a cheap place to live are going to be tough in Jackson "proper"...but I envy you..as that is my favorite place in the world to ski..i'll truly miss that darned TRAM..

Yeah it sucks the tram is gone but theyre replacing it with some form of a chair so the goods will still be there. Ive heard much of the same about employment. Im not exactly a trust fund baby, exactly pretty much the exact opposite. The goal is to work my ass off like 60 hours a week the summer before and save up so I can buy a pass and hopefully pay all my rent upfront. Ill just need like a 20 hour a week night job for bar money, food, and gas. Anyone heard of Aspem Meadows or the Timbers? They seem to be a nice place with studios only being a little over 600 bones.

Nice man...super sweet....im super envious...I thought about moving out that way, but I am not going back into the food service industry, so I couldnt find any jobs within the distance I wanted...far from family too..made the choice not to easier..

I actually applied for a job doing network admin at Jackson Hole, but they wanted to pay PENNIES...again....made it easy to make a decision.

They're gong to put a chair in to get you to the top of Rendevous bowl and replace the tram in a couple seasons... With a high tech model...

THe locals I talked to back in March almost all lived in Idaho. While it can be a haul (especially when the skiing's good and the driving isn't) nearly every patroller, instructor and guide I talked to was calling the "Land of Famous Potatoes" home.

Both places were built as employee housing a few years ago. I am sure they would work fine, they are in town. Studios start at $610 so with utilities your looking at $700-750/month. They are not easy to come by and it used to cost $10 just to apply. Another option is too live in a nice house with some roommates. I already recycled last week's paper but there are always a few people looking for roommates.

Best time to find a place is middle of August, since the summer is the busy time in JH so by then people are leaving to return to school, ect.
