I'm finally starting to feel normal after five full days of skiing in Vermont. I started my trip skiing MRG with xwhaler on Friday, then the weekend at Sugarbush with fellow AZer's. It was then time to head North and burn some of my Fox44 vouchers. Jay Peak was a must, I've been there both of the last two seasons, but it was on their last weekends of the year, basically Jet, and Haynes. It had been quite a while since I'd been there mid season. I also hold vouchers for Smuggs and Burke, I figured I'd hit Jay first, then choose one of the others to finish my trip. I finished skiing at close on Sunday at SB, I then hit the fitness center for a few more cycles of steam, pool, hot tub, repeat. I punched in Mongomery Center to my GPS, and hit the road. As I drove North, majestic Mount Washington came into view, reminding me of another great VT resort I haven't been to in some time. I couldn't stop and ski Stowe, but I did stop for dinner at Pie in the Sky. I got my usual, the Bianchi, a white pie with sweet onions, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, and goat cheese. I ate half there, and took the rest with me. This worked out great, provided me with a tasty late night snack, and a convenient breakfast. While waiting for my pie, I called the Snowshoe Lodge to reserve a room. I was told the fee would be a whopping $45 per night total.
I walked into the bar to get my key and pay for my room, as I started to leave, I thought I'd ask about their TV situation. The first time I stayed there, I had four channels of perfect sound, snow for a picture. Last year not even sound. The young lady behind the bar informed me that they now have satellite TV! Last year I was able to connect to their WiFi once, for about five minutes. This time I had almost constant connection. I looked at the room number, number 5, I knew what awaited, I stayed in that room last year. I later found out this is the only room with mirrors above one bed in the room.
Here I am lounging below said mirrors. I don't want to think about what has taken place in this bed. You can probably rent this room by the hour.
I hit the hill about a half hour before the lifts started spinning, the groomers were fabulous, not frozen granular, but fresh snow.

I made a couple runs then got to the front of the line for the Freezer, five minutes till opening at 9. I got off and headed for Stateside.

I made an exhilarating run down the freshly groomed Jet, then Haynes, and Derrick Hot Shot, all skied great. After things warmed a bit, I ventured into some glades, they all skied great, Jay was claiming 50" over the last 7 days. There was even some semi-fresh lines to be had in on the map glades.
