We'll be open Saturday and Sunday with The Jet Triple accessing The Jet and Haynes trails. $39 will actually get you a two-day Adult ticket; $29 for a two-day Junior ticket. BBQ and music right at the base of the Triple (no walking back to Stateside lodge) We're also going to take your contact info when you buy your ticket and, at the end of the day on Sunday, will be pulling a name from a proverbial hat to win an actual 2009-2010 Jay Peak Season Pass.

That's what I got.

heckuva deal and kudos to Jay for pushing into May when numerous other resorts that see far more skier visits and revenue during peak season; wrapped up their operations weeks ago when there was still snow to keep going.

wish i could make it, sounds like a blast

Very cool. If it were day-trippable (is that a word?) for me, I'd probably try to make it for a day. Not happening as is, but great that Jay is opening and giving people the option, especially at such an amazing price.

Wow, that Season Pass drawing I'm sure will get people excited! Love to see Jay beating out lots of other resorts for end of season skiing. Just goes to show a little snow making and the Jay cloud work!!

Observation as to why more resorts don't operate late: 2 out of 3 responses to this thread were "good idea, but sorry, can't come." :( Hopefully we get some AZer's up there to represent.

Just wanted to say that I think it's a great idea and am totally into May skiing. But not doing the rent a car and drive 12+ hours alone thing two weekends in a row, and also at work we'll be starting on a couple briefs Friday, so I don't even know that I can get away. I figured that any sort of positive feedback might make it more likely Jay does it again next year, and maybe more of us will be able to go in May 2010.

Absolutely. I didn't mean to put you on the spot....just addressing why we don't see May skiing anymore.

Didn't think you were putting me on the spot; just doing my best to let Steve/Jay Peak know that people/I appreciate them opening and want them to continue to do it. My view on this coming weekend is not that much different than mid-season, except that mid-season I might have a bus option to get up north (though not to Jay), which is cheaper and easier than me driving. I guess also more trails would be open, making it more worth the effort. But as far as this weekend, work might still be a problem, and as far as Jay goes, driving too. If they are open in August I'd happily go if my schedule permits. Like many on AZ, my desire to ski doesn't end with the unfortunate change in seasons.

Kudos to Jay for pulling this off. The more areas that show the committment to stay open as long as there is skiing, the better! :spread::beer::daffy:

I think you make a valid point. In the case of Jay, it really for me has to do with

#1. Health - leg, knee is still bothering me

#2. Travel time - if Jay was 2.5 hours or less, I'd totally go for that deal. If Killington, or another mountain within my day trip limits was offering something similar this weekend, I'd be all about it if it weren't for reason #1.

but I agree, the demand is low

Sounds like a great time for everyone, hope the weather cooperates. Just for jollies, what exactly do you do with all that contact info after you award the winner?.

Everyone is a winner because everyone who enters will receive a free copy of Jay Peak Magazine in their mailbox this fall.

If I were a betting man, I'd go long on the fact that these people are already getting their copy. And to help Observer with his jollies, I expect we'll add them to the list; increasing the number of people we can talk to, educate and convince that central Vermont is for those looking to be better here and northern Vermont is for those looking to move up.

Oddly enough, I actually enjoy that magazine. I have a copy of the 07-08 issue still in my briefcase. I accidentally pulled it out during a meeting this morning!

Me too, and ski most of my days at Sunday River! LOL!

And let me add that, while we definitely compete/have fun/rub salt in each other's eyes, hats off to Sugarbush both for stepping up and opening this weekend and for winning a NSAA Guest Service award for their Sugarcube product this season. From the angle of re-opening, there are lots of resorts who don't understand what pushing the season does for their core base. Sugarbush is not one of those.
