From Jay Peak's press release:

While the snowmaking expansion largely benefits those already "Raised Jay", those in the process will have a new enclosed Sun Kid® moving-carpet beginner lift to ride this season. The new surface conveyor will move guests up 250 feet (two and a half times the length of the old conveyor) and will be protected from the elements by a giant Plexiglas enclosure.

Has anyone ever seen one of these or possible have any pictures of one?

Saw one last year at Keystone (or maybe Breck). As I recall it looks a bit like a narrow greenhouse...arcing ribs for support over the magic carpet with some semi-transparent material stretched over it.

.....that and kids will probably enjoy it even more. The tunnel makes it more of a 'ride'

Thanks. It actually looks pretty cool.

Since they are increasing the length of the carpet by 2 1/2 times to 250 feet it will make it a lot easier to get going in the morning.

The only down side to this new carpet is because of where they are installing it, see plan here, ski in / ski out access for several of the slopeside condos is going to be impacted. Also where it exits is right at the back porch of some of the units. I guess thats good for those that have kids and stay there.

I can already hear the dads saying, "Son, when I was your age, we had to get up the hill by holding onto a rope!"

We actually updated the plans and knocked off roughly 45 feet to allow the homeowner-access to remain unchanged.

That's great news, to get their Stateside lodge under their own control.

I've always held a nostalgic affection for that building. The rough-at-the-edges function-only building always takes me back in time. All I need is a place to sit and warm for a few minutes. Nice.

This was first reported last June. Jay had talked about this at our homeowners meeting but I guess it wasn't final then. I just assumed it was by the way they were talking.

What happens when the kiddie falls inside?

Since I doubt these (or any lift) are going to be running unattended, I'm guessing they stop the lift, and the lifty walks down the big wide "shoulders" of the carpet, helps the kid up, and on the lift goes.

Or... the patented rail gun coils embedded in the enclosure automatically energize to expel the obstructing tike up and out of the tunnel, similar in principle to a particle accelerator. This minimizes carpet downtime and also serves as a training tool. :)
