Jiminy Peak
Sunday Jan 9 2001
Windy, snow showers, cold
hardpack, vanilla

Had my WM voucher 2 fer 1...kids and wife were headed to a show in NYC, so decided to do a solo trip banking on the fact i could sell my other tix there for $30 or so. Left LI at 430a, pulled into a pole position parking spot at 730..if i realized lifts dont turn till 830 i would have slept in another half hour. Got my tix, sold the other about 30 seconds later....all good. Got 1st chair up...wind was howling, did a bunch of warm up laps on the west side, good coverage, dust on crust...why did Jiminy think it would be a good idea to make wide open avenue, straight up and down trails? I have never skiied those when they havent been wind scoured, boiler plate, tag sale yielding trails...took one lap down Jericho (i think) and it was aweful...did some laps over on the far right side (as skiing down) fair conditions at best....headed back to the west side where the better snow was....at 1pm my tele legs were tired of fighting the ice and packed it up.

Amazing Jiminy can sell/have so much real estate properties for such a small mountain...maybe i'm becoming more of a snob and i want more (vert, terrain varitey) but Jiminy is just too vanilla for my tastes...glad i didnt pay full price, (i realize all the NE area are hurting), nonetheless, had a fun solo ski day, was home with fire and a glass of red wine by 430

Agreed. The trails on the front left (looking up) are all quite terrible and a complete waste of possible good terrain. I can count on one hand the times the conditions were decent on Jericho, Whitetail, Whirlaway, etc.

Every tree run that they have had they bulldozed and built trails... Riptide being the most recent. Those were sick trees.
