How about the dry slopes? There are a ton of them in the UK:

I could see how a dry slope area could be more profitable than a snow dome - much less overhead...

They tried it a Hunter a loooong time ago..

You can still find the little plastic flakes in the grass.. Or so I've been told..

Yes, I remember it was a long, long time ago. I remember it from when I was a kid. It was right under B Lift.

Must've been pretty gross... Hot 90 degree day - skiing on plastic flakes.. You fall and all the nasty plastic sticks to you... Like being tar and feathered...

A friend of my Dad's, was a school principle in NJ who was on Ski School staff, but an intermediate at best. He bought a little house across the street from the Catholic Church on 23a. He stayed there all summer and skied that slope and taught lessons to beginners. When winter came he had improved a great deal.

So anyways, it was slow, didn't feel like snow, but what the hay, it was something to do ski related in the summer.

BTW, his name is Severin Polodovich, I'm pretty sure he still owns the house there. He skis at Windham ever since Karl Platner went there. He's probably around 70 now. Any of you Hunta boyz ever here of him?

I was, but the name isn't ringing a bell; bet I'd remember him if I saw him though.
