got to the KBL lot saturday morning and there was about 5" of wet snow on the ground.
by the time i was crossing conclusion there was 10" and i saw a few nice tracks down the right side (now im getting pumped). hiked up racers edge and then great northern to the peak. the peak had 20" with more in some spots (snow went up over half way up my ski pole)
clicked in and took some careful turns down cascade headwall and once i realized there was enough snow to cover any rocks, i started skiing harder. by the time i hit downdraft i was confident enough in the snow to hit the water bars and ski it like it was mid season.
the snow wasnt blower but its was deep and really fun.
bottom of downdraft (where it connects with dipper) had about 12" and some exposed rocks that were easy to avoid.
wanted to hike back up and keep skiing but i had non-skier friends up visiting so i headed out of the canyon down spillway. skied all the way back to the lot without having to walk.
great way to start the season!!
