Resort or Ski Area: Killington

Trip Report: Good day @ K for the third friday in a row. A little fresh snow over night. Some trails were hard pack, solid and slick, others soft with a nice top layer to push around. Tried the snowdon trees but they weren't really ready, some parts had some fluff, but stayed away for the most part. Tried the Rams Head trees later in the day and they were scha-weet. 2-3" of fluff on a dynamite base. Lapped them for the rest of the day. Some pics:

Chute (around 9:40 am)

Vagabond (nice, a little crusty in places but plenty of fluff on the sides)

Was there Friday as well, along with a very disappointing 4 runs this morning (quit early with what felt like some minor stress fractures in the legs - no point in pushing it this early in the season.) Didn't hit the trees, but most everything was either groomed or a couple inches of powder on ice. Vagabond and Great Bear were both ice bumps. Most of the morning I spent on the groomers.

Blowing snow on lower Superstar and upper Ovation, but lower Superstar had the guns far enough to the left so that the bumps on the right were getting fully frozen precipitation, no goggle ice. Until about 1 it was quite heavy snow, then a few of the good bumpers and the KMS kids showed up and most of the bumps turned a delicious powdery complexion. Skied Superstar from basically 1:30 until close.

They continued blowing snow on lower Superstar and Ovation for most of the night I'm guessing, with the guns still on Superstar at open on Saturday. Thick layer of manmade crust on both runs. First run down I tried to do my part to break it up, which was a mistake. The effort of skiing that crud combined with the ice bump effect gave me some issues in my lower legs. Skied a few more runs on groomers, pain didn't go away, so I listened to my body and quit. Sucks to have a day like that, but I'd rather let it rest and heal so I can get back out there again, possibly Thursday after what looks like may be a couple good days of snow, than to push it and sideline myself for a few weeks.
