I skied practically from first to last chair on 2/27 and most of the day on 2/28.

Saturday was crowded like hell. The line for the K1 and the Skye Peak Express was overflowing out of the corrals for much of the day, moreso Skye Peak Express since it was still overflowing at 3:30 even with all 4 plus the singles line open. At one point, K1 took 15 minutes in the singles line and Skye Peak typically took 10 minutes. Also, South Ridge Triple was running and most of the chairs were occupied, although there was no line. The first two hours were powder conditions; and terrain bumped up throughout the day, although it was still quite nice. Going down Superstar with pure powder was well worth it. It was well worth it waking up for first chair too. The only place with subpar conditions were the last 300 ft or so before you get to Skyeship base, as it was full of slush. This is a true testament to the benefit of elevation, since the rest of the mountain had excellent conditions.

Sunday was much less crowded. The only lifts with a line were the K1 and the Skye Peak Express. The trail on top of the lift was getting icy, as it almost always is. I enjoyed getting minor amounts of air on a few jumps when things were still well groomed. Superstar was mowed down, although it bumped up throughout the day and the sides of it were untouched. Enough of the other terrain was ungroomed, and it was nice going down that terrain without worrying about ice.

It was overall a great weekend to challenge myself and I even gave myself some good challenges, since I went down a relatively flat Cascade, and did good with that, and then I went down Big Dipper. Although it took me awhile since it was bumped, it was quite an accomplishment going down a bumped double diamond. Sometimes looking from the crowds at Skye Peak Express, they should have put a 6 pack in. From the ski patrol, he said K is slated to close on April 25 this year.

Skied K this weekend too. Met up with Frank and friends. It was awesome. The tree skiing was sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Skied Julio, Anarchy, and other random tracks into the woods. Freeway and Double Dipper were fantastic. The snow was perfect!!!!!!!! Where was Mondeo? Can't wait to get up there again soon! Bumps were forming everywhere. What do you think the chances that Killington will let them grow? BTW, what's up with April 25?! Are you serious? There is sooooo much snow up there and it's still snowing! It is such a shame if they close that early.

april 25!! that'd be a travesty. they'll lynch nyberg. pretty sure they that patroller was goofing. from the season pass blurb on killington.com:

When choosing your pass you should determine how much you ski/ride and when, then determine what product is right for you. Thanks to the most extensive snowmaking system in the world, the largest modern snow grooming fleet in the east, Killington will offer an extended season from early November 2009 through early May 2010, weather and snow conditions permitting.

as for the skiing, this weekend was absolutely spectacular. it might crack my top 5 all-time. trees, trees and more trees. bumps were in full bloom all over the mtn. the fiddle to die for ...
