It was an incredible beautiful day. But the cost of the warmth and sunshine took it's toll on Killington. The morning started with PP with fluffy natural snow left over from the recent dump. But by afternoon it was a totally different story. Many of the hills looked like paneling with a thin coat of white primer paint on it. The hills turned brown before our eyes. Grass, mud and rocks started popping out everywhere and the snow got heavier and heavier. It showed where the least amount of snow making attention was given early on. But despite those trails turning brown, there was still lots of trails with lots of snow on them. The double-diamond part of Ovation still had piles and piles of natural snow on it, as it receives no snowmaking.

The crowd was substantial, but lift lines were quick. Killington had a deal that if you skiied on Superbowl Sunday, that you could redeem your ticket stub for a $39.00 lift ticket for the remainder of the ski season. Man, I hope it snows again.

I was there and thaught the weekend was great. Yes you're right, brown spots were starting to show, they seriously need a good snow storm. But then there were many good trails as well. For such a nice weekend, the lines were minimal. The only thing I could complain about, and for a change this was not ASC's fault, was that it got a little too warm for me by about noon time each day.

Too bad, there's still about 18" of snow in the woods here on Cape Cod. The x-c skiing has been great. However, I need a break from all this good skiing and will be going north this week. It's a toss-up between K-mart and Cannon. I get deals at both areas, but at K-mart I pay twice as much as Cannon. I'm wondering if it is worth it. From what you have stated, the only trails that are skiable are the ones they blew serious snow on. Right? That still leaves better cover than Cannon. How's the cover in that gladed-woods area adjacent to Superstar?
