You are certainly entitled to your opinion but "an assessment a few years back" (under ASC?) doesn't really have anything to do with what they are doing this year, which is what this thread is all about. I hear ya though, I take as many backroads as needed to avoid Rutvegas because it represents everything Vermont isn't. The access road doesn't bother me though. My $0.02.

You are correct in that my assesment is old and maybe things have changed, maybe. Honestly though I'm not going to pay what it takes to find out when I know I can go other places and get what I/we enjoy.

Seemed like a lot of praise for Killington going for it this weekend/early this week, despite the warm-up.

The only problem I see is now we are doomed to see a whole new group of "rumor" threads about when they will resume snowmaking, and perhaps reopen if they lose the base...

Killington has always been and always will be a great mountain with a ton of great terrain and good history. They get props for snowmaking, grooming, and lift updates, but $65 for a WROD is a little steep. I'm surely willing to look past that on the scorecard because they are in the supply and demand business and should feel free to charge whatever they want for their product, but when their own employees are on this site and making fun of Sunday River due to it's late of elevation and vertical, that speaks very poorly for the mountain and for Powdr.
I don't see Win, Peaks, Boyne, Booth Creek, or any other mountain's reps on here talking trash about Killington. It's one thing if a pass holder wants to make fun of another mountain because he/she is ticked off they got beaten to the punch for opening day and first to offer top-to-bottom, but for a mountain employee... Truly sad for the mountain.

With JerseyJoey and BigK there are no rumors..everything is fact..I agree that it's incredibly rude and unprofessional for Spinmaster to put down Sunday River..

Where did he put Sunday River down?

[post="336952"]Sumday Bigger[/post]. I think Tom was just trying to keep it light-hearted and this was obviously tongue-in-cheek, but some people really seemed to take offense to it. Tom takes more crap here than any other rep; yet still is willing to provide info and updates. I think some are overreacting here. I'm willing to give him a pass.

He wrote Sumday Bigger, and with good reason. Go look at the thread on the sunday river board where their boy Nick (marketing director?) put down Killington's opening day lift ticket price. He went as far as to say "$65..Ouch."

Tom has every right to speak his mind as does everyone else here. He loves Killington as do a lot of us. Give him credit for even putting up with the shit he takes here.

Fact is this. The Beast of the east seems to be rearing its head again. Powdr is heading in the right direction and I for one applaud them for it. I also applaud Tom for posting here regardless of the crap he takes from the likes of some of the K haters here.

I will say this as far as the Sumday Bigger/ Sunday River thing goes. It's really not fair to call SR Sumday Bigger unless they plan on adding vertical to the mountain. It will always be a small mountain. It will never be "Bigger", not even "Someday".

I’ll tell ya, I’m not one for fake outrage or am I particularly eager to agree with Grill Cheese Samich, but I think it is kinda unprofessional too. If I was his employer I wouldn't want him taking cheapish shots at the competition on a public forum.

I don't really care though.

+1. Sunday River and K also used to be sister resorts under ASC, so I'm sure there were some jokes thrown back and forth between the two.

Tongue-in-cheek is great, but not when you have the company logo on. I'll give him all the free passes I can think of, but it's not me that comes on here as a first time reader, finds out he's the Killington Rep and gets a bad impression of the resort because they can't tell the tone of his posts. I'm sure he does a heck of a job and I certainly harbor no ill will, but when I read the paper yesterday and he was misquoted as saying that Killington would be the first resort the the eastern United States to open - after I had just skied three days at another eastern resort - I didn't hear him bragging about beating out Someday Bigger. Yes, there are two points here and I apologize if I am being too critical of Tom.

So Nick says that the over-priced lift ticket is too much... hence "ouch" and Tom lies to the AP about being the first resort to open in the east...

Real owned. Get back in the IROC, Joey!

How is he lying? Killington is the first resort in the east to open for the season. How is that a lie?

About the IROC, you are wrong. I drive a Trans Am.

Both cars are equally cool, but the IROC has more balls.

You're right, technically it's not a lie, but very deceiving to say the least. K got schooled at their own game and so they put some spin on it.
